Reptar18,
I had the same exact issue with my 19. Now my truck is sitting at the dealership waiting for a new transmission. And the crappy thing is that they said it could take up to two months to get it fixed. Good luck with yours!

I was told I could use my extended warranty for a rental car. Called Ford ESP and discussed this with a lady that became my liaison. Long story short, she is staying on top of the dealership, service writer, and techs to make sure there are no delays in my repair. Up until yesterday when we was assigned, dealership had my truck for exactly 1wk before looking at it. Now, she calls twice a week to get updates and assist with obstacles to get things rectified. this is coming from a service writer who never called me to update me, not a single time.

Hoping for the best here.. but hate that I don’t have a ride unless I pay for it out of pocket.

@Reptar18 - Your issue sounds like one I just had repaired on my 2019. I was having a delayed shift from 3rd to 5th and back down when decelerating. I also had some hard downshifts to 1 on occasion when in regular driving mode. I dropped it off and the service writer said they were required to reprogram the transmission as a first step. I'm not sure if that's true or not but that's what I was told. Anyway, they did the reprogramming but it didn't fix it. They ended up pulling doing some transmission work and cleaned the valves(I think that's what I was told). It seems to have helped but I have only had it back a few days. Oh, and they took about 5 weeks to do the transmission repair and the cam phaser replacement. They said it would take about 2 weeks to fix due to it being a small dealership here in Houston but they took 5 because they noticed the cam phaser rattle. I hope they can get your transmission sorted out quickly! Good luck.

Thank you! Glad yours seems to be good to go! I don’t think I have the phased issue thankfully so it’ll be trans only on this visit I think. I will for sure keep you all updated. I THINK I’m going to get my first update today from the liaison since arranging for it this Monday.

Ford is paying for my Tesla rental from Hertz the entire time they have my truck. I did contact corporate Ford and put in a complaint about my truck taking so long to get fixed. I also submitted it for lemon law in hopes they will get it fixed sooner rather than later!

I am 2 months in. The dealer in San Antonio took my 17 in for rough shifts, waited on parts for 5-6 weeks. They rebuilt it and something failed, so I am back to square 1. I hope it isn't another 2 months. But I got a free rental out of it. 2 months in a 2022 Escape (I hated that thing) now I have a 2023 XLT to last until they are finished.

Update: I'll spare you the complaints with Ford's liaison service.. "service". Long story short, they didn't say they 100% confirmed the issue I was having but found a active open bulletin to service the valve body, nothing new here, except I didn't think it went for 19's+? I could be wrong, I need to look it up. Parts were ordered, merely bolts which allegedly came in this past Thursday 3/30 and they will continue to work on it this upcoming week with a projected return date of wed/thurs. Regarding the door check, they said this was not covered under my extended warranty for some reason? and wanted to charge me $317.. ($49.99 for the part alone). I declined, purchased the same part BNIB on ebay for $17 from a ford dealership and will just install it myself for abut 30 minutes time. My service writer is pure trash.. and I'm not too happy with the dealership at this point either and this is mostly due to poor communication between my service writer and myself. Zero updates, zero information, no calls to authorize out of pocket repairs if there were any, etc.

Last update: truck seems to be driving fine. Not beating in the trans, driving it normal and it seems to be doing well. Cold morning drives have definitely improved substantially over prior repair work. Tech said fluid levels looked fine, fluid looked fine, etc.

Update!: still having the same issues, arguably a little more frequent now than before. Ford corporate called to follow up before I could take it in. Said they have specialists for Raptors and the 10spd trans that will now be involved? Not sure how true this is or not. But everything is going to be expedited as far as new appointment, parts, and the repair.

I will continue to keep you all updated. It’s either going to be a TC next or new trans. They’ve already done the reprogram and valve body.

What issues? Did the dealer perform an Adaptive Relearn after the valve body repair? Most don’t, which can result in shift concerns as the transmission relearns.

There are no “Raptor” or “10 speed” specialists, sounds like they’re referring to a Field Engineer. Which would be good to have involved since it’s a repeat concern.

These transmissions are fully serviceable. If there are still issues after an adaptive relearn, they need to do a tear down and find out what the issue is.
