2019 Raptor purchase?

Two questions:

After spending a week looking at Gen 1 Raptors and seeing the amount of new Raptors available at dealer lots, I'm thinking of spending more $ and going with a 2019. Get a new car warranty, and of course, driving a brand new vehicle. I decided to look up any issues with the new Raptors and I did see folks have had problems with the 10 speed transmissions. The last thing I need is to buy something and have it at the dealer for problems and the stress that comes along with it. It did seem most of the complaints were from 2017-2018 Raptors and not 2019. Did Ford get the tranny issue fixed? Any information would be appreciated.

Next, with so many new Raptors available, I'm thinking the prices will come down more. I also understand there are no rebates, only dealers taking less. I'm a cash buyer and in no rush to buy. Advice from many is to wait until the last week of the year to buy. I would think I could still find lots of selections then since there are so many new ones for sale today. What are your thoughts on waiting to purchase and any idea how much discount one could expect?

The only issue i'm aware of is harsh shifting in sport mode which there was a reflash for. Takes the dealer a few minutes to do. Late 2018's onward already have the update from the factory.

Cam phasers is the the problem that has me worried.

Only had mine for 10 days, but have had no issues with shifting. Some vehicles that have the 8+ speed automatics can have issues deciding which gear they want to be in, but that usually occurs if you are tentative with the throttle. I do not have that issue in this truck. The only thing I have noticed is some harshness under heavy throttle with the paddle shifter.

As far as deals, you may see some slight discounts closer to the end of the year. Currently, Ford is offering its dealership the annual write-off option on certain vehicles. Many dealerships have selected the Raptor as one of the options to receive this discount, usually indicated as a "Dealer Discount". I bought mine with this discount, just shy of $7k off out the door. Not sure where they are available or for how long.

The 2020 Raptor is not scheduled to receive any substantive upgrades form the 2019 so the only motivation is the push the 2019's out of the lots. I actually saw a new (untitled) 2018 listed a couple of weeks ago. Was only discounted $4,000 so I purchased a 2019 Raptor for less than a 2018 was listed for.

You could buy a clean Gen 1 with the 6.2 and then upgrade to the Gen 3 when it comes out with a new V8

Mine is a 2019 had it for 3 months now and just took it in for the check engine light, they replace a cam sensor that was not working properly but they fixed it quick and it’s running awesome, love this truck

$5,000 warranty claim and lost a month of my first year to the 10 speed. I’d take a well maintained ‘14 over my ‘18 every day of the year!

My cost on 4 years of ownership depreciation for the 14 was less than $200 with interest.

Some dealers within a 500 miles radius from my location are offering pretty much 10% off MSRP. There are over 4000 2019 Raptors in the US today. There is only one more quarter until the end of the calendar year. I'm thinking the prices will get better between now and the end of December. How much, only Ford execs know. This is a case of supply vs. demand. There are used 2018s being advertised more than you can buy a new 2019 for. I believe Ford didn't do their market research and flooded the market with 2019s. No doubt, that is going to **** off some of their loyal customers.

I honestly think Gen 1 owners are going to fare the best. The V8s seem to be doing fairly well and the values will likely do better over the long haul.

Yes, I could buy a Gen 1 but I love the look of the Gen 2 and of course, driving a new vehicle is always nice!
