I have a 2018 Gen 2 Raptor with 43,000 miles on it. See the attached video and you can hear this rattle/clicking almost like a bearing rattling around. The first Ford dealer said it was the "Turbo Bearing" and replaced a turbo. Nothing... The next one told me they cant hear anything. Does anyone know what this could be?

Thanks.

Goes away in 20-30 seconds? Sounds like wastegate rattle to me.

@FordTechOne posted a tsb on it somewhere but I can’t find it. Basically they add some springs to hold it tight while it’s cold.

Mine does the exact same thing on my 18. Only does it on cold start ups. I only run premium fuel as well.

The TSB only applies to 2017’s.

Does it only make the noise when cold? These engines are noisy during cold start by nature. The High Pressure Fuel Pump May be what you’re hearing, they’re loud at high idle.

Wastegate rattle mine does same thing 25k miles 2018 nothing to worry about, if you put your head up under the front fender in the wheel well & get a look @ one of the turbos (I think drivers side may be easier to view) you’ll be able to see the little hardware rattling around as the turbo wastegate goes wide open on initial cold start)

Wow. That dealer was a fool. Maybe they should start reading these forums! LOL

Zero to worry about!

This problem has been around forever. My 2017 does it all the time as well. It quiets down quickly. I’ve come to like it, as part of a “high-performance” truck. You guys should have had an engine sigh mechanical lifters, dry timing chain, etc...talk about noise when they first start! Ha

Good morning Guys,
I am new to this site, I have a 2018 Gen 2 raptor, mine was doing the exact same thing, go out in the morning first start it would rattle for about 2-3 seconds, it is a noticeable rattle. Then it would quiten right down. No check engine light, ever, no power loss anything like that. Just the 2-3 second rattle. I am at 59k miles with mine, took it down to the dealer for the first time to do a 60k service. Luckily I took mine down now, I had 1k left on the original 60k powertrain warranty, so the dealer is going to cover the repairs under warranty, they said it is about a $3,000 dollar repair bill. I have been doing my own oil changes every 7500 miles, running motorcraft oil filter and mobil1 full synthetic 5w/30 from the beginning. I have attached a copy of the TSB which my dealership is saying is the issue. Mine is supposed to be ready for pickup tonight. They are saying it is a cam phaser issue. I will keep you guys updated on whether or not this fixes the issue. Also just so you guys know, if you look at the TSB it calls for over 9 hours of labor time and they have to remove the truck cab to do this repair, today will be a week they have had my truck. so it seems to be a pretty serious repair.
