Ok...so I've already been told I am crazy but let me tell you what happened. I just bought my truck a couple of weeks ago and I just took it on a long day of driving for the first time. I had a big bottle of water in the cup holder in front of the center console. After about a half an hour I took a drink and found it was rally cool...the bottom felt cold. This happened all day long and feeling both cup holders they feel nice and cool. Each of the bottles I had in there were room temp to start. Crazy or a feature? I am in Florida and it is 7,000 degrees so yes I had the AC running but they don't blow in that direction at all....plus it was the bottom (in the holder) that was cold. I thought man this is a pretty cool feature but I would hate it if I put a cup of coffee in it. I have seen some threads on the web where folks have experience this in Lariats and other Fords but none had an answer. Curious if anyone else is experiencing this and what causes it? My thought was maybe the ac that passes through(or under) the console is causing it...odd but cool! LOL

1st off...congrats on your Prius purchase.....1st post on the forum with no Raptor picture automatically defaults to "you bought a Prius" :)

So...post a picture all ready.

We do not have cooled cup holders. That plastic just retained the cool temp from you drink....remember....cold flows down...heat rises. thats why the bottom of the cup holder felt cool.

My Audi SQ5, actually had "cooled" and "heated" cup holders. the holder them selves were aluminum to transfer heat from electric elements, and to cool, there was a small compressor that worked just like a separate AC unit. Way over engineered, but it worked.

Nice feature. I'll have to check on my next long drive. Must be the A/C cold air blowing under the cup holders thru the console to the back seat vents.

It was 113 degrees here in Las Vegas yesterday and the truck interior gets to 150+ when parked in the sun. If I leave a bottle water inside its hot water when I come back.

I went from a silver truck to my Lightning Blue Raptor, and a mile of difference in how hot the blue gets inside...

Yea, mine is white for that reason and still gets that hot. Black is very popular here in Las Vegas even though you can cook on the hood or roof in the summer.

I did notice that the cup holders appearing to be cooling. I did consider the possibility that it was a feature, perhaps tied in with the seat heat/cool. However, it makes sense that conditioned air is traveling near the holder to the rear seats. More of a flaw with a nice side effect more than anything else.

If you were going to design a feature like this, it makes no sense to not have separate controls, since you clearly would have times where you want to chill the seats but heat your coffee. As well, you're probably want to advertise it a little better.

I like the Audi approach. A seperate A/C and heater for the cupholders. Then I could leave it on while at the store and come back to a cold bottle of water.

Its because of the rear ac vents, just transfers a little cooling as it goes.

If you don't have them then I would think the "feature " would be disabled lol
