I am going to try, it's been over 2 years since I bought the truck and it's out of state so I'm likely not going to make any headway with that.

Looking forward to the answer on the tune and not being able to read the computer.

I would get the original dealer to fix the software issue so Ford can diagnos issues with it, if that statement from the dealer is correct. Your original dealer obviously lied to you about the mods and tune, if it does indeed have a tune. Still can't figure out why Ford can't reflash it to stock. @FordTechOne is that true (tech can't access info because of a tune)?
Yes, some tunes can prevent IDS from identifying the vehicle to start a session. There are methods to try and reflash the PCM to the factory configuration, but most dealers are not going to want to get into all that for obvious reasons.

The original dealer should have never sold it as Certified Used with the mods.

Would that be the same if I just took the truck up there and said I would like to get a stock reflash of the pcm? Would it be easier to get a new pcm and have it flashed to the trucks vin?

They didn't do any work to it so I'm kinda trying to prepare myself for the same thing to happen.

I really appreciate your help in this, thank you.

Yeah, I think Whipple(?) may be one of the tunes that is either not possible or exceedingly difficult to get re-flashed to stock.

Asking for a stock PCM reflash would be a huge red flag, I think most dealers would be reluctant to get involved.

A new PCM would be a risk, because if the tech inhales the data from the existing PCM per the service procedure, the new one will become corrupt as well.

My recommendation would be to bring the truck back to the selling dealer and explain the issue. Regardless of whether they “knew” it was tuned, they’re the ones who certified it and sold it with its current calibration. They should follow General Service Bulletin (GSB) 21-7122 and attempt to reflash the PCM to stock following Module Programming Routine #2.

I've got the certification paperwork together. I'm going to have to try organizing it over the phone since I bought out of state 3 hours away.
Maybe you can send them your pcm, but then again, that might not be a good idea. God only knows what could happen to it, ie lost, etc.

It would need to be installed in the vehicle to be programmed.

Maybe the selling dealer would be willing to compensate a local dealer to do the reprogram? Pretty sure selling a modified vehicle as a CPO is against the program rules.

Thanks for clearing that up! I'm sure everybody appreciates hearing the correct procedures from you.
