2018 Flatbed steps button JAMMED

Anybody got insight on how to fix a jammed button that pops out the steps of flatbed door. Ironically I told myself when I first bought truck that this would eventually happen. Way too flimsy. I pushed the button lightly as many times as I could in different spots to hopefully fix it. Sprayed a little silicone around button because I thought maybe spring mechanism inside was rubbing. I unscrewed cover that’s in picture but it doesn’t give access to the button compartment. So I’m stuck at moment.

Also gave it a really firm shove on steps themselves hoping to unjam and then lightly used crow bar to see if that would do anything but no movement there.

Any insight would be appreciated. Couldn’t locate another thread but I’m on phone.

Had to pop off the plastic cover where button is. Did break 3 of I believe 8 things holding it all in. Gave me access to locking mechanism and button. Adjusted it and it popped back out. Where button and lock meet seem to have little room to meet each other and easy to come off track. Doesn’t seem like anything is bent. Just gonna be careful going forward. Pics too large to load. If anyone can tell me type of lubrication to use for arms of the steps I’d appreciate it. Both are bone dry after 8 years and difficult to pull in and out. It is gel like but I don’t know anything about lubrication types.

maybe try a lithiun grease. spraybit down with brake or parts cleaner to get the old grease off and then regrease it. good ol gen1s you just lift and pull, no jamming here after 12 years.
