I had my phasers replaced at 30K on a 2018.
So far so good. Sounded awful on a cold start. Hopefully the rebuild kit resolved the original failure.

I had my throttle body cleaned at 20k due to the known oil issues on the turbos. It was fairly dirty but could have waited. Dealership recommends it every 40k. I think I will have it done every 30k

Dealer got back to me end of last week and confirmed phasers are bad, and the turbo which was replaced before my purchase is bad, and possibly IWE. Parts were ordered last Friday with expected urgent delivery tomorrow. They hope to have it back to me end of next week but I am not holding my breath. The dealer has me on a loaner, and has upped my warranty from 2 year 24k to 4 year 48k at no charge. I am bummed to have only had the truck for 7 days, but. Hope everything gets resolved ASAP. If It is not fixed prior to Xmas I will be forced to ask for a refund. Get a raptor they said.... you will love it... :)

I’m a bit confused how you landed this truck with this many - undiscovered(?) problems.

did the truck sound like this at the dealer? -OR- was it warm when you first looked at it? That’s a dead giveaway they were trying to hide cold startup issues.

you can ask all you want, but it won’t happen. They’re under no obligation to refund your money for a vehicle sale. They might be willing to in order to avoid a lengthy and costly court case, but that’s a PITA for everyone - mostly the consumer.

They don't have a return policy? I think I would have gone that route before ok'ing them to work on it and getting a loaner.

Most dealers have a grace period - I would have thought that might have been used.

I am certain many buyers outside of this forum lacks the knowledge to self diagnose their new purchase until it is too late.

Forum members take it for granted as we spend a few hours a week reading about it.

I agree with you that most just want the vehicle and don’t notice signs of possible mechanical issues at time of purchase. Then once you buy the dealer says it is up to you to get it fixed.

I bought it from a ford dealer Via the internet. Not many used raptors near me. I am also new to eco boost, and never dreamed of anything like this. I have owned 30+ vehicles, many bought sight unseen, this is the first major issue I have run into, outside of project vehicles I have bought. The truck was in my possession for 6 or 7 days. The dealer who’s is 350 miles away delivered a loaner, and has been very good so far.
