And where is the front license plate supposed to go? Over the inter cooler?

The intercooler is behind the upper grill. That's why 2015-17 Ecoboosts don't have the offset license plate like the 2011-14's did.

Upper grill, ? I thought it was behind the lower grill? ADD is selling relocation kits so a winch can be fit there.

It catches air from the upper grill. It still mounts low enough to be in the way of a winch. But it doesn't rely on the hole in the center of the bumper for air flow like the 2011-14's did.

Good question. It doesn't appear to be able to do an offset either. More importantly, damn states and their front license plate laws...

And their real sticklers for them in my state. Thinking of making a mount using the tow hook bolt as an anchor in the mean time. Flip up so I can still get atthe hook when needed.

I'm thinking of going with the side mount like on my 2011 and 2014 Ecoboosts. :iranmaybe:

I hear ya - it depends here on where you are at "here," but at a minimum its breaking one of their laws which is an easy invite to be pulled over in the first place let alone any other infractions you may or may not be caught up in at the time.
I roll with out one on my Shelby, couldn't puncture the holes on the vinyl stripes/bumper, which by description alone sounds like it would be perfectly fine with holes!

Foutz has his practically blocked off, while running hard in the desert in the summer for hours and probably packing sand and dust into the intercooler the whole way.

So the lower grill can't be all that important. It does have automatic shutters to close it off for fuel savings, at least in the standard model.

The intercooler also has a fan, so it doesn't need direct airflow.

A friend of mine doesn't even run a plate on his car and he never gets stopped. I don't understand it. He has them and they are valid but he doesn't keep either plate on the car. No tickets in the last 10 years I have known him.
