On the way to SoCal from Sacramento today. Cruising at 75 all of a sudden speedometer goes crazy and pegs to 140 and Began losing engine power. Pulled over and tranny won't auto shift out of 1st. Lots of clunking when shifting out and into park/reverse/drive. And speedometer reports wrong speed. Idling at 5mph it would report 20. There is some wetness at the bottom of bell housing. Any ideas?

Thank God it happened early and under warranty. I would not accept a rebuilt transmission. You bought a new truck and you paid for a new transmission. I would argue for the installation of a factory fresh new transmission.

Maybe the speed sensor on the rear axle. From what you described not thinking it is the transmission, but what is telling the controller how fast you are going and not letting the trans work.
