Truck looks great. I have a couple thoughts/suggestions for you mainly based on my experience (mistakes) of owning a gen 1 since 2011.

First, I would recommend upgrading the trans cooler because it is inexpensive and super easy. I did mine in 30 minutes. Ford part number DL3Z-7A095-B will snap directly into the stock clips. I believe it is originally designated for the F-250. You just have to replace the factory, one-time-use hose clamps with new ones (or the screw type) and cut the top hose a couple inches to accommodate the bigger cooler. It really makes a difference when off-roading in over 100 degree weather.

Be prepared to smash your factory bumper and skid plate. The approach angle angle on the stock stuff is terrible. I have RPG's Raceline bumper and it has been through some serious shit and still holds up great. It still gets smashed a bit, but it is way stronger and way more out of the way than the stock stuff. Maybe wait until you do actually smash your stock one, but I'd just keep it in mind that it will quickly need replaced.

Along the lines of the bumper, I would move that light bar to the top of the RPG bumper instead of behind the grill. It is only a couple inches lower, but it will allow more air across the radiator and trans cooler. I know a lot of people run the light behind the grill without cooling issues, but I've been in the desert in the summer and temps were getting a little hot and I don't have the light behind the grill. Again, maybe wait until you notice issues, but be prepared. I didn't get my bumper with tabs for a light, so I had to have it stripped, tabs welded on, and re-powder coated...all because I wanted to save ~$200 when I got the bumper.

Speaking of lights, do not mount a bar to the top of the windshield/front of the cab. Especially if it isn't a 100% spot light. Most bars are mixed and the flood lights will light up the hood and possibly the windshield and dash. It makes it actually harder to see. Spots on the back of the cab are great, otherwise I'd keep lights lower than the hood.

My final comment is regarding RPG's BOLT kit. It is awesome, but despite what is advertised I would be prepared to lose 4x4 if you install it. I would really talk to people that don't work for RPG and get their personal experience. Just know what you are getting into before getting sold on it. 4x4 is only needed for going slow, right? Just go faster. This is probably an unnecessary comment since you already did tie rods, axles, and UCAs; just wanted to mention it in case RPG was selling and you were drooling, which I completely understand!

Congrats on the truck. It's awesome to see it getting ready for off road.

Jondle thanks for the great suggestions. That’s why I enjoy these forums because of raptor guys like you willing to share your personal experiences to help us new guys.

I did see a video on youtube with Keep it Dirty on an EXO run where Helio mentioned that some of the Gen 1 raptors were have heat related issues due to the weather. I will definitely start researching your suggestion. In regards to 4x4 you are correct many individuals have mentioned that it is not ideal. I unfortunately need 4x4 from time to time because I live outside city limits and when storms flood out the roads I need 4x4 to get out and onto the paved roads due to all the mud that gets on the gravel road. On the bumper suggestion I’m right there with you. I actually already ordered one. I’m a bit behind on my upgrade post but will update today. And yes I do plan on removing the light bar behind the grill once the new bumper comes in. Keep those great suggestions coming.

Update on RPG Build.

So this week I was able to install the Advanced Fiberglass Concepts 2x2 fenders with liners. Liners were also Line-X for extra protection. Man they look awesome. I also painted the rear fender flares and front grill to match the front. Lastly I was able to cut the tail pipe exhaust to get ready for the RPG Raceline rear bumper and dovetail cut.

CoronaRaptor the fender liners are made of fiberglass. That is the reason I sprayed them with Line-x for added rock chip protection. The liners did come with a smooth black finish but I wanted more longevity.

Had a long talk with adv about their liners. In summary they won’t work for my application. I’d have to slice, dice, and re-glass in order to allow for clearance. And basically if I didn’t get it just right, one full compression and the entire liner could crack.

I was able to find a 4x8 sheet of some 1/8” abs plastic. That will hopefully be next weeks project.

So now that I added RPG goodies to the rear and front it was time to look at wheels and tires. I drive my truck daily so I was not looking for beadlock wheels. My initial thought was Method wheels but I was really digging the wheels from Addictive Desert Design. I looked at their website and noticed that the ADD wheels were on special. I called Cole at ADD and he took care of me quick. I originally purchased 4 wheels and then ordered two more for the RPG recovery rack. As far as tires I went with 37 inch BFG KO 2 all terrain. My though was that the KO2 run a bit smaller and I did not have any fiberglass fenders and was concerned that too large of tires would rub. In addition I was also thinking about the weekly miles I drive on the road. All in all the combo came out great and no rubbing at all during normal use. I have not tested it during hard off-roading yet.

Awesome build and I appreciate you taking the time to explain your thought process behind all the parts. I've seen the RPG Bolt kit in action on an EXO run and it rocks! Also, I second what @jondle said about upgrading the trans cooler. I upgraded mine and it's super easy.
