To seat and unseat tires on beadlocks is easy without any tools, Damn not sure about the SVT wheels since they can be used both ways, you are probably right.

You would need to use a tire machine to get the front bead over the rim of the wheel. Then you can use the beadlock ring to cinch it down. If you are installing the tires from scratch using the beadlock ring, it is easy. There is a good video on you tube of someone installing a tire using the beadlock ring. He shows where the tire sits for each way of mounting. You might be able to do it using only hand tools, I wouldn't count on it though.

i guess i will have to look into that.

another question. what is the reasoning for not being able to use beadlocks onroad? i can care less about dot crap. but is there any physical disadvantages of using them on street?

That's right if you would have installed them initially as a Bead-lock it would have been easy but since you went the other route first it will be much more difficult to get it back up over that lip.
Its only the DOT and proper maintenance keeping an eye on those bolts in case they come loose. Despite what SVT told the snowballers it says in the instructions to check the bolts and re-torque after a certain amount of usage.

They are really hard to install as bead locks nosbusa ...so you should just give up and sell them to me! I will give you 1,500 for them now that they are used lol. Jk wish I had seen them first.

so to get this straight, there is no issue with speed on the road? the beadlocks, as long as they are properly installed, will be fine at speed up to 70mph? i was under the impression that beadlocks, since they were designed to be aired down, were meant for slower speeds. anyone confirm this?

and steve, $1500 with $1500 shipping and $1500 handling and $1500 extra expense....... no way do i want to give these babies up. they are on my truck for good. although the wife got pissed at me. at least she cant tell me to take them off

I never heard anyone say anything negative about beadlocks and road use other than the DOT issue. Why would Ford even offer them as OEM equipment? Do they not think and know that if you offer them on the Raptor and it's meant to hit up to 100 mph off-road then you better have tested them in beadlock mode (and I assume at high speeds also). If they are fine off-road at high speed how can they not be on road? Check them, maintain the proper torque and they should be fine right? Ask Netix

Talked to our local Big O Tire guy today (the owner who I've known for years) and he said he would avoid using beadlock wheels on the road just because of the liability. Being in the tire business for so long, he had a strong opinion on this because he's seen so much. He said if your insurance company would stand by you then fine but the potential liability since the ring says off-road use only would be too much in this sue happy world. Making me rethink what I'm going to do. Might have to work on one set of tires for off-road and one to get me off-road. Not really what I want to do. Either that or DOT approved beadlocks which are available. The whole issue still seems ridiculous without any real thought behind why you can fly off road in them but oh no don't go on the highway.
