So am I to understand correctly we pay $500 to enable us to use the nav and camera more conveniently? Is this a hardware or software thing?

Hardware. Basically, it unlocks the locked functions while the vehicle is in motion. Also, the LockPick allows you to control the rear camera anytime you want.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully they'll be able to do the same with the front camera soon.
