Purchased the putco tinted in channel window guards for my 2011 scab, won't work properly with the pressure sensor windows. These are them emails sent back and forth in complete detail. You decide for yourself how crappy a company they are.........don't waste your money on putco, find another company that actually cares about their customers and how their products actually work.
Hi, I purchased a set of your tinted window guards for my 2011 F150 from a local dealer which came from another distributor (meyer) POOR POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! First I start the install per your instructions of the front window first from back to front and roll up the window a couple times to seat them and my window won't stay up. I guess the truck has a pressure switch that won't let the window roll up if it senses blockage. I had to hold the button up to get it to finally stay up then when I tried it again a few minutes later the same thing....wouldn't stay up auto rolled back down? It says nothing about this in the instructions so I wasn't sure and neither the company I purchased them from or their supplier meyer was either. That was the first problem, second was nothing to do with your company but still had question for help. Forced the window up again and go to install the back window when I noticed they sent me the wrong set, I have a supercab (clamshell doors) they sent me a set for supercrew (4door) My truck was at the shop when they ordered them and I even saw their order invoice from meyer that had highlighted "supercab". Meyer says they can't take them back even though it was their fault because I already pulled the backing off the sticker, other than that they are in brand new condition. With price paid, shipping and tax I'm in to these for about $75 and they don't even fit my truck and on top of that even if they did my window won't stay up unless forced. These look like a really nice quality product and I would love to have them on my truck but I am feeling really screwed right now all the way around. Is their ANY way you could answer my question on the window rolling up and offer any advice on how I can get these returned or exchanged or anything for that matter? Sorry to vent but my wife spent 2 hours at the shop with the owner calling back and forth to meyer trying to get this resolved and when it came to the window closing didn't ever try to find out only said he would have to contact you for info on that. Did I mention they (meyer) SUCK at customer service? Thanks in advance for anything you can do to help me remedy this situation and sorry for the novel, I just want some nice window guards for my new truck. Thanks, Jim

Jim,
I apologize about the issue that you are having with our part and with Meyer. If the instructions on the box do not work this is what I suggest for getting the -windows to work properly. Have one person pull back on our part while another person rolls with window up. This will recess the in channel back allowing the -indow to roll all the way up. Once you have the window up, leave it up for 48 hours. This will allow the part to seat within the channel and will help the tape adhere. As for Meyer sending you the incorrect part, I apologize but that would have to be handled direct with them, as we here do not handle direct exchanges.

Hi jeff,
Its not about the tape sticking properly, or the ease of your installation instructions as my 6 year old could probably install these lol, its the fact that the 2011 f150's have a pressure sensitive motor that when the motor senses blockage (possibly finger or in this case your product) it automatically rolls back down. I don't understand how leaving it up for 48 hours is going to accomplish anything, is it supposed to change the form of the window seal? I have been reading of a couple of truck forums since my first email about others having the same problem with your product on their 2011's and are having to dremel the inside edge down thinner to get it to work. Not that I can't do that but I purchased this product to work on my model truck out of the box with no modifications as your company stated and if I modify them I'm sure the lifetime warranty is out the window. If you can assure me that leaving the window up for 48 hours will cause my windows to opereate as they should then I have no problem using your product. My question is: if it doesn't what are my options, as even though they sent the wrong size for my truck they say I'm out of luck because I removed the tape backing no matter if they work as they were supposed to or not? BTW I didn't order them direct from meyer, I purchased them from a local store called Auto stylz in Portsmouth, Ohio. They told me today that they are now set up as a dealer for your products but had to order my set through meyer prior to their dealer status. I have the original invoice/order where they (auto stylz) had highlighted "supercab" as my truck was there getting tint when they ordered them from meyer, I picked them up about 2 weeks later as meyer was out of stock on them and went home that night to install them. I started with your instructions taking for granted that they were the correct part and installed the front window first then went for the back and noticed they were too large not to mention the problem with the window staying up. I have even put the 3m backing back on the tape but was honest and told them I tried to install them before realizing they sent the wrong thing, auto stylz called their rep (joel from meyer) and he told them I was out of luck as they couldn't take them back as new because they had been installed, not understanding I called meyer myself and spoke with Camron @ ext 6431 and told him what happened and he assured me that they would take them back even if the backing had been removed if they were the wrong part so I called auto stylz and told them to call camron and what he said, but within the 15minutes it took them to call back (my wife was standing there listening to their conversation on speaker phone between the 2 companies) camron then changed his story and said I was out of luck when he was talking to auto stylz. I'm sorry about the novel and its not the fact I'm gonna be out the $75, heck I just dropped $50k on the truck! Its the principal that not only did I get sent the wrong product but even if it was the right part it didn't work properly out of the box and since I tried to install it I'm screwed?? There isn't a scratch on them and all the backing is back on the tape, you can in no way tell one piece was installed. All I'm asking for is SOMEBODY stand up here and help make this right. I'll give you all the phone numbers so you can find for yourself that I'm not full of crap here, I just think that if these companies are representing your products like this than I would be a bit upset if I were you. If someone returns something to meyer that has had the tape cover removed (even though it was put back) will/do you honor a return from them? I'm not the one who screwed up here and if I had, I would chalk it up. I'm just not getting any help from any avenue that I have tried so I'm trying to come to the source for your help....please be a stand up company and work with me here.
Thanks in advance!
