Hang in there, once you get it running, you'll fall in love with it again. Lot cheaper to keep you're Gen 1 than pay 60k more for a new one, that's a lot of parts and gas.

100% agree spending some money on a good truck you already own is better than having a 1K/month payment on a new one.

$8K for a reman complete with installation is cheap, it's usually $10-12K depending on location.
Ford does not make new 6.2L for the Raptor any longer.

Was going to say another person, FB page, got a quote and paid 11k from Ford for a remanufactured 6.2L installed.

Update. Still no movement. I was told yesterday that they’re thinking it won’t be till mid December before they get an engine.

I did meet with the mechanic yesterday and asked about how serious the damage is to the rocker/cam and he said the metal that came off would be nothing more than tiny shavings, not fragments. He said if it was his truck he’d just replace what’s broke and move on. Unfortunately the rockers are back ordered as well. They mentioned about going aftermarket but there would be no warranty (not sure that matters at this point). So we’re going to wait and see whether the rocker/cam show up before the engine. I’ll probably do an oil change 100-200 miles after they fix and do an oil change at the shop if we keep the old engine, just to cover myself.

That said, I’m leaning toward placing an order for a Gen3, especially if we end up keeping the old engine. This really has been a s*** sandwich to deal with.

Yikes. That is crazy.
Not really, you have consider that it's 32 hrs. and 40 hrs. with Supercharger of labor.
Then there's all the gaskets, spark plugs, all fluids, shipping back and forth and all the little stuff, ect......
And let's not forget about hazard disposal and TAX.

When I had to put in a reman because of oil pump failure back in 2012 it was just under $9,000.
That was because I used an authorized Ford Whipple dealer/installer, labor and parts was discounted and Whipple donated everything to reinstall the SC.

The super duties are still built with the 6.2L. Aren’t they the same as the ones used in the F150?

Yes, and IIRC the quote for 11k was to swap the Raptor cams/parts and reinstall procharger into the newer 6.2L

So as expected, the engine arrived middle of December and now my truck has finally made its way into the shop for the replacement. Photos courtesy of a neighbor of mine who works at Ford.

The end is in sight…
