Hey guys,

I am a little on the fence with what size tires to get. I want a beefer more aggressive looking tire for the raptor. I am drawn to the way the 20" wheels look. I don't do much off roading, currently living in jersey there's not many places to go. However I still want the ability to go off road if the opportunity arises. So more or less it's going to be for the look more than the functionality of it. What do you guys think?

I can't believe I'm saying this but if you're rarely hitting the dirt, the 20's would be fine.

Ive always thought 20's were the shit but I honestly think the Raptor looks better with 18's and a little more tire. Plus a setup in 18's typically runs a grand less the the same in 20's.

20s for street 18s for dirt

BTW, you say you are in NJ, but no place to go.

Did you know that the NJ pinelands is the most dense woodland area in the entire country next to the FL everglades. Dude, you have a 1 million + acres of it!!

Perhaps you are in North Jersey?

20"s match the curve of the fenders better IMO. plus, even with 20"s you will still have 7"+ of sidewall which is about what most standard trucks have anyway. it's not like you're gonna be skating on rubber bands!

Blue,

Yes I am in north jersey I am aware of the pine barrens but never ventured there myself yet. If I had someone to go with I would consider it. The open desert I would not mind but taking the raptor into a dense forest, all I think about are the amount of scratches I would get all over from the branches lol!!

Anyone here that switched from the stockers to 20" wheels did you notice a rougher ride at all? I really like how soft the raptor rides, I'm assuming that comes from the shocks more than the tires, but I would like to maintain that feel.

.

Where at in Jersey? I'm in Jackson. Hopefully have my truck by early February.

I get the same feeling about the pinelands as you, dense forrest? F-that. I didn't buy a $50k truck to scratch the ever loving chit out of it on the sides. lol. I'll pass on the narrow trails. Slow speeds and scratches down the side doesn't excite me at all.

Now if we can find some open areas, and do some romping in the dirt and over/around some hills and whatnot, and actually hit decent speeds, then I'd be down.

We'll have to get a NJ/PA/NY get together going this spring. Seems to be a decent amount of us. FRF needs to start local chapter sections.

for future reference,

1.5" is this much:

:D.

Thats actually closer to 1-5/8" on my screen lol
