Fuel Octane with Terra Grapplers +20 mm

Here's some photos of my set-up. The 18x9 rims (with +20 mm offset) were 31lbs and the tires (325/65/18) were 76lbs. That makes them only about 10lbs heavier than stock for 18" wheels and wider, higher tires! A fair trade I think. I paid approx. $200 to have them fitted and balanced - this included taking off the original TPMS and putting them on the Octane's. The truck is wider now as the tires stick out beyond the flares - but by less than 1" (see photos). Fuel consumption is down about 1 mpg at all speeds (17 mpg at 60, 16 mpg at 65 and 15 mpg at 70) and 0-60 seems a tad slower, but it could just be perception. Finding lug nuts that fit under the Octane hub caps was a real problem. The solution is to go open ended. I eventually found some on eBay. This swap has made "my" truck. I know this set-up is not for everyone (off-road performance etc), but it suits me and how I drive my Raptor. The truck looks more stealth/sinister - I love it!!

You know I LOVE IT Bruce! Great pics, perfect truck as far as I'm concerned. I'm trying to get the same setup now, except I'm wanting to go with the 17 inch wheels, 14mm offset and use the OEM tires until they wear out. Do you know if those Terra Grapplers can be had in 17 inch at 35" height. My only concern about going with 17s is I don't know if the tire choices are different or not. Since the 17 inch wheels are only 8.5, I would guess that mine and your width from the flares are going to be about the same. I was surprised to see your rear tires that far out of the flares though. Hmmm....

Where did you buy your wheels. Ordered from Four Wheel Parts big Memorial Day sale with 10% off and free shipping, only to get an email saying they won't do free shipping, so they want another $150 or so, which is way more than I can get it elsewhere with shipping. I asked around at several places and couldn't really get much response, so I ordered from Discount Tires, but haven't been able to get any kind of response from them either. Need to call I guess when I get time. Unfortunately, I don't have time to chase this stuff around for weeks.

Crash: Don't know about tire sizes for 17's - sorry. I got my whole set-up, rims and tires, from discounttires.com. It was like $1800 for everything!! Speak to Chris, he was helpful. Delivery was a little slow though. Good luck and post pics when you're done!

Just saw that they apparently make 325 Terras in the 17, so that should work when the time comes. Does anyone have any experience with those Nitto Dune tires with the flames on the sidewall? I kinda dig those. Again, love the photos Bruce. You and I have the same mind's eye for our trucks. I like the dark look of your lights too. Whoa, just realized you have matte black on the hood. That's not the factory decal is it, comes down too far. Mind if I ask what that ran ya? I would also like to wrap the flares and bumpers in matte black vinyl or something, but haven't gotten to look at that yet. I've already put more into this truck in mods than all my previous vehicles combined. I need to put em all in before I get complacent.

$450 for the hood. The guy said he'd do the flares for another $250. Haven't pulled the trigger on that one yet.
