I tried mine while installing a gate out at a ranch. I plugged in a drill but everytime I gave the drill power the circuit protection or whetever light on the outlet would come on and cut the power off temporarily.. I didn't think the drill drew that much power but is this only supposed to be used for very light loads? ie) plug in cell phone, laptop, ... if so it sucks b/c I was wanting to use mine to plug in power tools and such while out in remote locations

Was the truck's engine running at the time? I found out on my 2013 that the engine needs to be running for the plug to work on any appliance, even though there is a green light indicating power to the plug. Try that.

Mine lasted two months of ownership! I hate when Ford knows they screwed up something, but don't bother to contact owners and let them know it needs to be fixed. The back sliding window is another one they KNOW is going to fail, but it's up to you to figure it out and pray you do before the warranty is up!!

Sadly ive done the exact same thing. I eventually pulled it apart and pinched thelittle connectors together for a tighter fit.
