Hey guys. First off I want to say Hi. I've been looking on these forums for a while and really wanting a Raptor for a long time. I'm in the process of getting rid of my current ride and will be looking for a Used 2019. I have some questions about the 10 speeds though. I currently own a GM 8 speed and can't stand it. How are the 10 speeds running? I know Ford and GM worked on the 10 speed together and the 8 speeds have a class action right now along with the 10 speed as of Aug. Have you been having problems? Thanks...

I traded my 2017 Escalade ESV with the eight speed. The eight speed transmission was terrible. The 10 speed in my 2019 raptor is worlds better.

I assume you're asking specifically about mechanical failures with the 10 speed. I've got a 2017 with 40k and have not had a single mechanical issue at all. However, I have to share that I absolutely hated the way it performed. It could never seem to find the right gear; wouldn't downshift when I thought it should, would upshift when I thought it shouldn't. I thought the 10 speed was a **** and had too many gears at first. That's until I found the MPT trans tune. If you decide to go forward and buy a Raptor, I'd highly recommend you look at this, as I think the stock trans programming is terrible and does not properly utilize the 10 speed transmission. It completely woke the trans and truck up for me.

To the OP:
The problem with feedback on this trans has a lot to do with peoples expectations of how it should shift....take 10 guys and have all test drive a truck and don't be surprised if half of them complain about its shifting...this one shifts too late....this one shifts too early....this one skips too many gears...this one doesn't skip enough...blah...blah...

See where I'm going....so don't get too hung up on the negative comments....

There doesn't appear to be a lot of actual failures....
My 2 cents:
My 2018 shifts just fine, there are times when it doesn't downshift but when that happens it has so much torque it pull hard like a diesel and still works fine. That may be the exact shift logic the trans engineers programed in...
I will say my trans didn't manually shift as fast as my expectations were (see above) but the trans programing is supposed to have some self learning on how YOU wind up shifting. Soooo after over a thousand off road miles manually shifting my trans shift very fast and good now when hitting the paddles or shift knob rocker...

Also....don't think many out there have experience with other 10 sp autos to compare the Raptors to....including myself...

Thanks guys. What I'm going through with this 8 speed is a nightmare. Once it's all over I can't wait to start shopping..Thanks again.
