Your problem may not have anything to do with the tranny.
On the Gen1, a water leak at the third brake light would trigger all sorts of problems, that had nothing to do with the light.
If this are OEM wheels, there have the trim ring mounted.
I would recommend to remove the trim rings prior to mounting the tires.
If you intend to install them in bead lock configuration you need to get the forged bead lock rings.
I don't think there is anyone here that "Hates" a TTV6, it's just that some here don't like the TTV6 in their trucks.
Me personally, I just don't like the V6.
And as to driving a golf cart, on the golf course yes; otherwise I'll be driving my Gen1 with a 6.2L V8!
I'm close to 65 years old, and every time I get in to my truck I'm determined to dive like my age suggests; but by the time the engine is warmed up I drive like I'm 18.
So, using my very consistent driving style , in none play driving mode:
87 = 11-12mpg; 91 = 13+mpg (no difference in play mode)
