Quick update. I unbolted the rear grounds for the harness that runs at the back and cleaned them up with some scothbrite before reattaching them. The severity of the alerts went down a ton and now it only happens once a week or so.
18-2106. It's a crap TSB, because even with the connector unplugged as per the TSB instructions, it still does it. So there has to be damage, corrosion or a bad ground somewhere upstream in the harness.
Just to be clear, I have no trailer hooked up while it does this. I even unplugged the harness from the connector in the bumper and sealed it up. Going to get under it this weekend and check all the connectors and grounds.
It seems insane to me that Ford though it would be a good idea to have those alerts cycle and distract the driver constantly. Just alert once for each per key cycle.
A few minutes after my truck (2018 SCAB) is warmed up and I accelerate from a stop a get a "Trailer Connected" Alert on the dash. When I brake I get the "Trailer Disconnected" alert. Back and forth. Da-ding, da-ding, da-ding. Makes me want to jerk the wheel into oncoming traffic. Seems worse...
I don't think it's normal operation. Hasn't done it in the first 69k miles I've owned it when it's been cold out. Guess I'll have the dealer look into it.
Seems like my torque converter (TC) isn't locking up when I first start driving. These last few months once I get out of the neighborhood and up to 55 or so the RPM's float around 1500-2000 in 10th gear as I go up and down hills with the cruise on. Happens on days when I remote start the truck...
Back to my original question, does anyone know if the dealer replace anything other than the phasers? Timing chain, guides, oil change, coolant, etc. during this fix?
When I took it in for the P0022 code I asked that any TSB's be done, and I specifically asked then to do the software TSB related to the cam phasers (forget which one). the tech detected start up rattle and that the phasers needed replacement first. Sorry if I gave the impression one was related...
Apologies for yet another cam phaser post, but here goes.
Got a P0022 code (camshaft Position A - Timing Over-Retarded) and took truck to dealer. Dealer confirmed cam phaser and ordered parts Tuesday June 27th. I have 62k on the clock and never heard the rattle. Dealer even confirmed it was...
So I zip tied that damper down to be rock solid, and I bungied the parking brake cables up tight since I thought they might be the source as well, and no dice. Still hear the clunking rattle. Does it the most at 1-15 mph. Over that and it goes away. I got under the truck while it was on my...
Not sure what leaf pack. Its stock. Does the clunky more noticeably over low speed bumps. I have about 46k miles. the rear suspension is super squeaky when I go up and around my driveway. Keep us posted if your bushing and shackle fix solves it. Gonna go throw a few zip ties on this thing as...
Going over bumps and potholes i hear a clunky type of rattle. I think this thing is the culprit. Its a slab of metal attached with a rubber bushing to a cast iron bracket. It is crazy loose too. The bushing seems to be really worn out. Is it some weird mass damper? Can i get rid of it?
Mine is the same way. Drives me crazy at night. Tried all sorts or cleaners like you as well as rain-x and other water repellents. It’s really my only bitch about this truck!
So my dumbass backed into a pole. Gives me an excuse to put on a ADD bomber rear bumper now, but the tailgate is damaged beyond simple paint-less dent removal. I got a place that can get me a new shell painted for under a grand. I just need to swap everything over. Seems easy enough, except for...
This isn’t for my raptor, it’s about my wife’s 2020 Exploder. Just had a collision shop replace and repaint the hood, front fenders and front fascia due to an accident. The shop mentioned it would take up to 30 days for the clear coat to fully harden/cure. Wtf? Am I not supposed to drive it on...
