Hot side will work if it's the Cobb relocated (intercooler kit replaces the cold side, if I'm not mistaken). If it's the OEM location hot and cold side will work just fine.
Will do you one better than the Whipple above:

I started asking some folks and the major complaint was the crumpling at the clamp connections (the plastic itself) from what I gathered. When the plastic was heating up the pipes would crumple under the weight of the clamps and pop off.
Design was just finalized, hoping to have these in-hand in about 2-3 months and up on the site for pre-order shortly before. We don't like to put products on the site until we can more-or-less guarantee timelines, so it takes a bit longer - I apologize! The alternative is the dreaded "we take...
Working on getting some feedback now for the final design! We'll let you know as soon as we have more info.
They definitely do feature the metal insert on all 4 connections to prevent crumpling.
EDIT 1-17: We found someone! Thanks a ton to those who offered up their time!
We're finalizing our turbo inlet tubes the Gen 2 Raptor / 17-20 F-150 3.5L and would love some to get some user feedback from the field - at a GENEROUS discount to you, of course.
All you need to do is put down a...
IAT2 should be it! It's the sensor post-intercooler on the cold side. The issue is that you really won't have apples-to-apples as there wasn't a reading prior to the intercooler change, but compare that temperature to ambient temps. and that's where you're going to see it stick much closer than...
Where you want to keep an eye out is when you're on a highway drive or hotter weather (particularly towing). That's where any intercooler shines. We're still in winter months where temps. are more moderate, so heat soak on the OEM intercooler is less of an issue.
Of course - I'm here to help.
The intercooler's essentially a large radiator, so there's no way for it to not "work", if that makes sense. I'd wager it being either the temp. itself you're measuring (it's IAT at the intake, not the intercooler sensor post-cold side end tank).
There's really...
You have to be driving to see the effects of the intercooler, and mostly at WOT after a longer run. Measure the ambient temps. and be sure to measure IAT2 from a device (not IAT1 as that's at the intake and totally different).
If you're seeing the same temps. as the OEM intercooler then...

We use 400 cell cats (same as SPD does) but with any brand anything less than 800 cells (OEM) can trigger the it as every truck is different. Defoulers resolve the issue 95% of the time.
There are instances of every aftermarket brand encountering this issue (Facebook, mostly).
