Nice, I pretty much did the same thing but ran the wires down the passenger side.
I installed a power magic as well. Mounted beside the passenger side fuse box.
My power steering rack failed during a 2 week Moab trip. Limped it to the dealer and they swapped it out.
I’ve seen a starter die and broken rear wheel speed sensor wiring.
Some basic electrical tools like a wire stripper and some electrical tape might come in handy.
I’m running them in option 2
Option #2
+20% spring rate over Option #1
+2.25″ lift height over stock (unloaded)
+1.00″ lift height over stock w/ 400lb constant load
I know you mentioned the crossbars and tent bracing the overhaul hd for more stability, which is for sure, but if you add the side rails, I feel you should gain a lot more stability in terms of front to back movement. Basically you’re going to be boxing the side rails, overhaul hd vertical, and...
Pretty good looking build! I need to add an awning to my rack soon.
I’m pretty sure you’ll get a good feeling as to how the Yakima overhaul will hold up on rough terrain after a few minutes. If not a lot of movement then you’ll probably be good. If you want to go fast with peace of mind and...
I was making the same decision as you a while ago. Chose the PE because I read some people were having issues with the cover and durability on the retrax units. The PE cover is vinyl bonded to aluminum slats. Also the canister is a bit smaller. Main selling point was that Pace Edwards is owned...
Short answer is basically strength. I don’t think the bed covers on the market right now can handle the dynamic loads of someone really pushing the truck like me. I was getting some air time in Moab and recently in Oregon on some sand dunes. The rack with the tent and everything else on it held...
Haven’t had time to update it recently, been too busy with work but my build thread might answer some of your questions:

I have used a 400p and I can air up each tire in less than 3 minutes.
If you’re on a budget then 400p works but 440P would be faster although a bit more expensive.
Mine made lots of noises when the shocks were topping out over bumps. After a few weeks of driving it’s much better now. Let them break in and enjoy :)
I’ve had a few instances back when I was working on powerstrokes where new replacement thermostats would be faulty. So if you’re sure there’s no air in the system, coolant is topped, fans are going then I would say pull the thermostat and put it in a pot of boiling water and see how far it opens up.
I am happy with my x3’s. Slow speed you feel the bumps from the huge knobby tread blocks. High speed they have a bit of noise but nothing too crazy.
I run 35f 32r pressure feels great on road. Offroad I run 25/25 with my roof top tent and gear in the bed.
Can confirm if one front wheel is in the air it will free wheel. Was doing a trail in Moab with a steep rocky uphill section and the front wheel was spinning. Moderate pressure left foot braking and adding lots of gas I managed to crawl up the ledge. Was in 4 Lo and locker engaged.
I used T6 5w40 before. Used gas truck 5w30 on the last two oil changes. No complaints. Oil consumption is low as well but my truck barely burns any oil...
Will continue to use it.
