To the OP:
The Torsen units are pretty strong...my last truck (2wd) had a custom install but has lasted for over 100,000 miles and no failures...and I was hard on it...smoking the tires across intersections when every a Dodge Hemi got too froggy...
The extra MAC straps do keep the tires from wobbling...
I'll have to check and see how much room to get hands and bolts back behind the vertical plate...
I've got 2 Baja trips on this rack and about 1,000 off road miles with several Raptor groups and not a single issue with the rack....
That's me....I do the R&R everytime for tire removal/change.
I use my 3/8" drive M12 cordless and T40 driver, I crack them loose with ratchet and remove with the above gun...I do use anti-seize and run them down with my gun, but not too tight..
DON'T loose those bolts....could not find exact...
That's about what I've been doing and feel comfortable with that...Fords recommendation of about 10,000 miles is a pipe dream in my opinion.
Several good oils out there, but I would not run anything NOT fully synthetic...I run Redline, but again there are others...
PS...have about 30K miles and...
You could always call your local Malls and see what they recommend...I read somewhere that some people buy a dual wheeled F-450...but don't actually tow anything....wonder why that is?....
Ha...ha...just razing you a bit...:)
I've been doing fleet maintenance for about 36 years, and spoke to many veh and tire reps over those years....and asking what they recommend for tire rotation:
Pretty much all said about 3 to 4 thousand miles.
They were pretty much split over how to rotate. Simply rear to front on the same side...
I know this....bottom front shock mount bolt spec is 430 lb/ft.....and a lot of guys tighten them up after some type of work and don't get them tight enough and wind up with a front "clunk"...
I'll keep an eye out for some more info and of course share what I find..
Up until now my advice/opinion has been just "theoretical" but that has now changed...
I just placed an order for a somewhat custom 8.5 x 20 x 7.5 cargo trailer to be built. It's rated for a GVW of 7,000 lbs...right at my comfort limit..Empty I think I'll be fine, but anything heavier then a...
Of course and our trucks have more then just about any truck out there...however Mr. Diff didn't get much love in that area so tohers make them.
Again it's if you need one or not, it's if your off road use is such that one really should be installed...and I'm now convinced for my usage it's...
Well I am NOT Greg....but we could have a fun conversation over a couple of rum based cocktails on this one...
One of my first off road vehicles was a 1973 F100...of course set up for prerunning. Never dwelled much on the structural strength of the cab but because I COULD build my own cage I...
Ain't that the truth!...
This is a funny thread....guys trying to make different things louder (tell me why spend money on a louder BOV?)
Go buy some lights....
The ARR (Arizona Raptor Runs) is partnering with Foutz Motorsports located in Mesa AZ for an event Jan 12th. Foutz motorsports will be doing a kind of open house and some training (LeadNav) and info on the Raptors. F/Motorsports was tapped by Ford for its Raptor Race programs for several Baja...
Love to join, but should be picking up a new enclosed trailer....AND then I can pick up a new RZR Turbo 4 S.......Just might have this all together by the KOH this year...
Thought others might enjoy a really nice Trophy Truck disgusted as a Raptor. I'm proud to support Steve with my Raptor purchase from Team Ford...ha..ha..
Man.... a lot of work to make it all work...
