Back in 2008 when I was a mechanic at a GM dealership we had a 6 liter burn a piston while under warranty. GM had me pull calibrations out of it. Had a tune in it. GM was going to deny warranty initially, but in the end they did cover it under the requirements that I reprogram it back to stock...
They tried the same thing with me a couple years ago. Had to point it out to them that it didn't apply to the raptor. Mines was under warranty at the time though.
I would definitely call Ford's customer care and ask them if there's anything they could do to help you out, as it is just out of the powertrain warranty. They may surprise you. Years ago the helped me out with my 2013 raptor that was just out of warranty, although it was only an overpriced 3rd...
The dealer I bought my 37pp from has an R on their website for sticker. Don't know if it's legit or not, but might be worth a call. Long ways away for you, but might be worth the trouble. They also have a black Broncos raptor for 12k off sticker. No reason to pay ADM in this economy...
Oil change and rear diff fluid change. Thought about the fancy cover that allows you to drain and refill, but I like to take a good look in there with the cover off. All looked good. Cleaned up and reassembled after I painted the cover. No orange paint on hand so black will have to do. Maybe...
Went riding with my son yesterday for over 3 hours of single track riding, but took his f150 instead of the raptor. He drove, so I bought dinner afterwards. Fantastic father/son time:)
Finally finished installing the beadlock rings. Bought these for my 2020, but ended up trading it in before installing them. Thankfully the rings fit these wheels too. My favorite wheel so far.
Started the process of making my factory wheels true beadlocks and found this:
Found one unpainted. Read about this happening on bronco wheels, but have saw nothing about it here. Two different places finishing the wheels? Maybe a corrosion issue later on in the rust belt here?
Anyway...
My 2020 rear-end failed at 30k miles. Pinion bearings is what they said. Needs ring and pinion to fix it properly they said. 20k miles later, more rear-end noise. Said it was contaminated with water and tried to push the bill off on me. Asked me if I owned a boat. Never owned a boat in my life...
I think the RHO will allow ram fans to get into a truck like the TRX ,but not have to feed the hellcat, for people that will have to daily it if they buy one. I think it broadens their market. Like myself, I can't afford an R nor do I wanna daily drive one. But the price/economic side to the...
Typical GM move, sacrifice quality for cheaper supplier costs. Was a mechanic at a GM dealership for 20 years. After their bailout in the early2000s it got bad.
Had a commuter years back while the raptor sat in the yard or the wife drove it. Sold the commuter and bought a second raptor and never looked back.
What are you saving the raptor for, the next owner? Yeah, 98% of my miles are highway, but that's where I put my miles on. Not gonna spend my...
