I just had cam phasers replaced and the dealership updated the TCM, I'll update and let you know if it helped the rough shifting. There's a general vibe here of bullying people when they talk about common problems with the gen 2s. I don't know what it is.
How bad was your phaser sound? Im going on week 3 with mine at the shop too. Mine was just starting to get bad, but I don think I had the drivetrain noise. Maybe I'll notice a difference when I get it back.

Was supposed to be doing a bunch of camping and road tripping but trucks in the shop getting cam phasers done, so I just looked at pics of it today lol
Personally I wouldnt bump up to a 3/4 ton to tow the weight you do at the frequency you do. Towing with a 3/4 ton is really nice but daily driving one compared to a raptor is not nearly as fun and the ride isn't great comparatively.
