From the picture it looks like you may want to look at the shock on that side. The other pic looks kind of reddish in color on the side of the truck which is what color the shock fluid is. Good luck with the repair and the storm. My wife and I are trying to see if we can make a dash down there...

I agree that the asking price for the gen 1 is high. Regardless of miles and condition it is a used vehicle. Both trucks have benefits and drawbacks in my opinion but if you are questioning if you should get the gen 1 then I assume you are not sold on the gen 2 or you wouldn't be second guessing...
