That video is about as shady as all of John Hennessey's business practices. Even if that truck had the claimed 150bhp over stock, it would not pull that much on the stock truck over a quarter mile. The article even claims 21psi from supposedly "free flowing" turbos. That sounds an awful lot...
Totally different turbos. Much larger housing to be able to supply 30psi. I think I read somewhere that the GT's turbos are made by IHI, but I could be mistaken on that. Information is scant and I doubt my neighbor will be parking one in his garage for me to look at.
Not on a turbocharged engine. You are citing the conventional wisdom for naturally aspirated engines. It's complicated but the boosted engine does not rely on back pressure for proper exhaust scavenging like the atmospheric engine.
I'm not here to defend claims that these adapters make x...
:specialed:
This news of the stock turbos running out of puff above 20psi was indeed what I was getting at. Typical K04 performance. 600 crank on stock turbos is still feasible once the intercoolers and gutted downpipes come on stream. Above that you'll be needing to step up your turbo game.
Ford is using a modified Borg Warner KO3 in the newest F-150 ecoboosts at 16 psi, that is how they are getting the additional power and torque. Do you have documentation that these are the same turbos? Nobody has confirmed it as yet and all the press material refers to "larger turbos" for the...
Something seems strange about their description on the website. They are listing the stock adapter dimensions and the upgraded adapter dimensions as being exactly the same from F-150 to Raptor. I'm not saying it is impossible, but I find it extremely hard to believe that Ford used the same part...
Hard to isolate an individual noise from that video but I think you might be hearing the injectors. Direct injection is often described as sounding like a sewing machine (or maybe a quiet, tiny diesel). That might be it?
I have not seen an example of anyone putting these on a Raptor yet. These were made for the regular Ecoboost 3.5 with its smaller turbos. There is no assurance that these are even applicable to the new High Output. Looking at the pics on their website, I am certain that what Ford would use for...
I never presented my thoughts as anything but educated guesses. Based on the power curves I have seen, my estimates for tuned power will be right on, I promise.
Magnaflow has a catback out already. Available in polished stainless and satin black.
Dual 3" piping and 5" tips. I have no idea what it sounds like though.
I think most of you that are seriously bothered by the noise the stock truck makes will not be satisfied by anything the aftermarket...
I like a guy that has a pile of parts on order before he has even sat in the truck. Well done.
Coming from a different galaxy in the enthusiast universe (Porsche for the most part), I would be interested in how much additional weight all that stuff is going to add to your truck. Possibly...
No sh!t, he edited his post with an actual circumference. I was guessing based off of the picture alone. I followed up with a post clearly indicating that I am aware that it is approximately 2.5". Some of you guys need to read the thread before you waste everyone's time posting pointless...
Whoa there. 550 wheel would be in the 675-700 crank range. You are not going to see that out of stock turbos. At least not for long. Be careful taking results from the most aggressive early ecoboost tune and extrapolating those results to this platform.
I was searching for tech data that lists the exhaust diameter but came up dry. But in this video, they have a Raptor with the body removed and I'll be damned if that exhaust doesn't look huge. I agree that it looks like dual 3". Sometimes the camera can play tricks but it is safe to say that the...
To really oversimplify things, with a turbocharged engine, less backpressure is what you are always looking for. You don't have the complicated fluid dynamics of a naturally aspirated powerplant in which you need a certain amount of backpressure to ensure proper scavenging of exhaust gases and...
Forgive me for never having seen a new Raptor in the flesh. I am overseas in the military and have not had the chance as yet. That boost guage is digital, right? Does it max out at 20psi?
If so, I hope somebody figures out a way to recode it to read higher for the upcoming tunes. You'd want it...
If that is the case, we may see some issues with the trans. 800nm is only 590 lb-ft of torque. Tuners may have to limit boost as a result.
Much has been made of the fact that this trans is a joint GM/Ford effort and that some version of this gearbox is in the new Camaro ZL1 which makes 650hp...
Nobody has confirmed it yet but I would put money down on it. We know they are Borg Warner. We know BW's product line. We know that a Ford Raptor is a mass-produced, relatively cheap vehicle. This is not some exotic bespoke turbo made by BW to satisfy some unusual criteria. Ford engineers phoned...
