Do it.
I’m just shy of 150k, all supercharged (Roush Stage II). No issues. I made a 600 mile round trip last weekend, 68mph, all interstate or four lane highway and still had an indicated 30 miles to empty before filling up when returning in our town.
My favorite, but not the best.
- Less MPG on average (objective)
- Less power and slower acceleration (objective)
- Less capable and comfortable suspension (objective)
- Exterior design is a win for Gen I in my eyes (subjective)
- Interior is close to a wash to me (subjective)
- Exhaust note is...
For me, a large part of the experience is the sound. I love forced induction V8’s as well. I can only think of two vehicles I have owned that did not have forced induction.
- 2000 Corvette (had a Corsa exhaust and mild cam from Thunder Racing)
- 2013 Raptor (prior to finding my 2013 Roush...
Like I said, I’ll report back when I can give an objective opinion. I still don’t get why some rail against FTO. I get there are preferences but I believe the 3.5 EB to have superior performance over the 6.2. The 6.2 has been great to me. 150k and no issues with engine, transmission and all...
I don’t get why a legit Ford technician would be leading with off base info, insights and expertise (it’s because I don’t think he would, and nothing he has stated has caught my attention in the least in terms of his thoughts, which are based off of training, knowledge and expertise). Honestly...
I bought a Level 1 package and added the panoramic roof and 19 speaker HK audio and called it a day. There trims are:
-Base
-Level 1
-Level 2
- Launch or Ignition edition (dependent on your model year)
My final invoice price is 75k and change, less TT&L. Sure you can add on options to get it...
FTO, What you laid out is literally why. It was tough to not pivot in this direction when I saw a dealer with -10k off of MSRP (and me not going with the loaded edition, mine is not a 90k+ truck…I ordered factory and targeted a couple of options I wanted and left it at that).
I’ll let everyone know in 4-6 weeks. With 150k miles on my 2013 Roush, I decided to pull the trigger and order a ‘22 TRX, finally letting go of the idea of a Raptor R (and likelihood of availability and/or affordability with the reports of a low production number).
I’ve owned this vehicle for...
I’m getting close to 150k (all supercharged). No issues. Change the oil on time (or slightly before, depending on environmental and driving conditions), perform maintenance and the setup should last well beyond the mileage on either of those vehicles. If you can verify the maintenance, I...
Yes please keep us updated! Appreciate it! I’m at 147k on a serialized Roush stage II. It’s been great and at this point, it’s either:
1) Run Gen I Roush into the ground or
2) TRX
I’m sticking with option 1 at this point but with the limited replacement 6.2 availability, the 7.3 is the...
Procharger centrifugals have a lot of potential, just as you said. In general, I do like the PD setups for heavy vehicles, like these trucks. Whipple have much more potential than the TVS2300 (which my truck has). I’m curious what the highest horsepower and torque someone has made on this 6.2.
In theory, the centrifugal should be easier on the engine than a PD supercharger. PD superchargers by nature create higher cylinder pressures at lower engine speeds, which is where the loading is harsher on your bottom-end. There are ways that centrifugals can improve lower engine speed...
It’s hard to beat the KO2’s in terms of everything they do well. I really liked the look of the Ridge Grappler on my truck but they were relatively poor in winter.
Very similar issue that just started on my ‘13 with the Sync 2. It will occasionally say the rear camera is unavailable and to contact the dealership. I don’t have an answer for the fix yet.
Hi Cody. I saw your post about having a titanium valve spring kit for the 6.2. How much does it cost? Do you have a feel for what a typical install would cost? I have a 2013 Stage II Roush Raptor with 144k. Thinking about this in a PM type of fashion.
Thanks,
Josh
I’m at ~144,500 miles, all supercharged (serialized Roush Stage II) hoping to keep it going for a while longer, but have contemplated a TRX with the current used car market and some of the deals TRX dealers are running).
Sorry to hear about this! I’m not sure how viable the 7.3 conversion is from a price standpoint. Wishing you well though regardless of which path you take.
Mine just threw it’s first code as well at nearly the same mileage (144k), the same P0128. I deleted the code roughly a week ago and it has not occurred again (yet).
I wonder how difficult replacing the 6.2 with a 7.3 would be? The 7.3 is an animal and is holding up very well in very high HP (albeit short) tests. Seems like it could live at 750 hp for a LONG time.
