What about putting one side of the pins apiece on the upper corners of the board on the Builtright panels. The area spanning the wheel well would be a great place to store the maxtrax.
Right on, this is great info, thanks! I've towed this same size trailer as you with a 2,500lbs Matco chest full of tools, and I definitely felt it in the MPG. I hauled it from Seattle to Portland, and then the return with an empty trailer. This was before I got the Eibachs and Deaver +3HDs...
The biggest difference between the Diamondback x Yakima OverHaul and the Outpost or FrontRunner systems are the height that they can set the load. If you want to move anything substantially longer than the bed, you'll want the OverHaul, since it can be hoisted to the roofline and you can affix...
So, at what weight/size trailer would y'all specifically use a Weight-Distributing Hitch? I'm going to be hauling a decently sized enclosed cargo trailer probably loaded to 3,500 gross for about 1500 miles later this summer, and trying to figure if I want to invest in a WDH.
The damn thing is still in the shop, with no updates. I'm hoping to get some more info today. All the while, my DeeZee pull-out drawer, Foutz skids, and a few other bits are sitting in my garage waiting to be installed.
It's almost enough to make me want to get back to working on my day jobs!
An update on this: truck is still at the dealership. Definitely was not the wheel speed sensor. Reportedly, "several modules are offline, not communicating, but not flagging faults either. Possible either share grounds or share power. Need to test wiring and inspect electrical schematics for...
Good to know! I didn't get a clear picture of the mounting from the listings I've seen. Bummer they're sold out everywhere. Do you have any sense on when they're back in stock, or a lead time for backorder? Obviously my rig is still in the shop, so I'm not in a rush right now.
This is good to know for next time :D
As for the sliders, I've been doing a lot of reading and I'm wary of getting weld-on rails. It seems like it makes things much more difficult when they inevitably get banged, bent, and knocked around and need to be repaired or replaced. Bolt-ons, by...
Went out on a Backroad 4WD training course over the weekend, had a great time. Unfortunately, my '17 went belly up halfway through the first day. Thankfully the class was all about technique, observation, and education, so while I missed out on a little driving I still got all the actually...
So, looks like I'm having a similar host of issues. I'll put my writeup here instead of opening a new thread to keep continuity of conversation and ease future drivers googling their issues.
I was taking my '17 screw through a pretty mild but tight technical trail with a few rocks and drops...
Didn't have to look very far. I found this hose, leading from the intake to the throttle body (I think. I'm a far cry from a mechanic, and not particularly well versed in engine parts/configurations). The first picture shows the end that was disconnected and dangling. I'm guessing it's supposed...
Hey folks. I've had this error (P144C) throw twice now, and I'm hoping to figure out the root cause. My only powertrain modification is an ADD/AFE Intercooler which vents to atmosphere. I haven't noticed any performance issues or strange noises/sensations while driving.
Reading this thread...
There's also the dunes out by Pasco.
Yep, that particular clip is at South Dunes by campsite 47. There's three big OHV areas in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, and they're all fantastic.
I have been getting this same issue. 2017, using auto start/stop. When the auto stop kicks in, I often receive a FordPass alert for "low oil pressure" with no corresponding in-vehicle warning.
This just started today but has gone off about half a dozen times already. Any updates on the issue?
Correct - however, the tool bars are bolted onto the hollow cross-member of the panel using expanding rubber bolt sleeves like this. Now, I just have to find somewhere to buy them in the States.
EDIT: The term I was looking for was "well nut," and my dumb-*** didn't even think to look at the...
That really does look to be CONSIDERABLY easier than my idea. Just gotta figure out where to get those neat expando rubber washers that Diamondback used for the tool racks.
EDIT: Looks like these.
So things are really coming together in my '17. I've got the Builtright bed panels installed, Diamondback HD set up, and the interior mods are slowly taking shape. The one thing that really isn't dialed yet is some way to store my Maxtrax. Right now, I use a pair of Gearties to affix two boards...
Yet another update - after about 1100 miles, the issue has returned once again. The phantom trailer returns!
I've got a scheduled service with a dealer later this week, and I'm hoping to talk to a service advisor there. I'm also reaching out to my local 4x4 shop to see if we can fabricate some...
I reached out to Apollo Optics, and got some clarification. Looks like the +3HDs are the right option to go with the Eibachs, and should result in a level ride. I’m also putting some bump stop plates in the order, which is unfortunately on about 4-7wk backorder directly from Deaver.
That’s definitely an option - since I don’t need the manifold on the compressor, I bet it’d fit behind there mounted on the Builtright panel I’m installing there.
I could also potentially put it under the two-seat rear seat, on the underseat storage panel. I’ll probably investigate the engine...
