Well, it’s back…. Did a long drive on the freeway, and on the return leg it happened again. Same thing
same code too: 0301
Off to the other side of San Antonio to grab the sole ignition coil actually in stock. More to follow.
Will grab some of those next time I’m at the dealer…or if I have any issues again.
Changing the plugs really isn’t difficult at all; some fiddly bits moving stuff out of the way, but pretty easy and straightforward, so going back in to replace the boots won’t be difficult.
Was a little concerned about the oil on #5, but now think it’s just old anti-seize. I looked down in the cylinder with a flashlight and small mirror and didn’t see anything.
Did the plugs, nothing out of the ordinary. Definitely worn, but not ridiculously so. Here’s the plug from the #1 cylinder (the one that threw the code), next to a new plug:
I took individual pics of all the others too, but all looked about the same to me. Here’s a group pic of all six; in...
I know there are a couple similar threads out there, but my situation is a bit odd.
Background: Truck religiously maintained, and only super unleaded/93 octane or better ever put in the tank. Have had cam phasers replaced twice, and IWE done once…all under warranty.
Situation: My wife was...
Indeed.
I’m already retired once…. And having an even better go for round two, but yeah. Everything is 10-100+% more expensive, primarily from labor and fuel costs. ‘Greed‘…corporate or otherwise has very little to do with it.
You can’t inflate the monetary supply as dramatically as we have...
Well hell…. I admit I was skeptical as hell, but now even I’m believing it’s really, actually gonna happen!
Still holding out hope for a SCAB version, but good thing we’re building a detached 42’ deep garage in a few weeks with 16’ top plates for the walls. LOL
Now to figure out how wide a...
Right now, the only thing I’d remotely consider is a ‘20 SCAB. The V8 in an R might bring me over, but I have zero need for a 4-door truck. And if I did, I’d just borrow my son’s.
Really hoping they do a SCAB as a homologation special for racing, but not holding my breath.
I want to believe…truly. But more ‘news’ releases from any person other than an official Ford spokesperson is just smoke and mirrors.
Still searching for any official word…hell, even a valid tip or hint from someone who officially speaks for Ford.
My ‘18 is in for a likely oil pump, probable...
So…. I’ll be ‘that guy’ and ask the question.
How is it we have a whole sub-forum on a vehicle, that as far as I can tell is just vaporware? Somebody please point me in the direction of real, legit news on a Raptor R release. Seriously, please! I’d love to see it.
I’m a naturally optimistic...
As stated above… twice each time it happened.
I also check my oil at least once per month, usually every time I fill up if it’s more than 1/2 tank since I have the time... along with the air filter, etc. Also rotate my tires and check the brake pads every 3 months regardless of mileage, flish...
Well, got the truck back today, they said they couldn’t find anything wrong. :bs:
They did update the ECU (a recall I never got a notice on), and said the second cam phaser replacement I had last year would likely have to be reaccomplished…so a 3rd time! WTF?
Regardless, they test drove it...
