Black chrome...but they still have some kind of gel/film on them; I assume to protect the finish during shipping. They’re wiped down, but not washed yet, so they may wind up a bit shinier.
Got them from CJPonyparts. Cheaper than Amazon, and fantastic customer service.
Or a Monday morning! :Big Laugh:
And don’t feel bad, mine are the same way...OEM tires and I need to take them in to have them mounted correctly:
Edit: And align the “Ford” centercap. I always have mine point to the valve stem in some way...assuages my OCD tendencies and more...
Thank you Nick... Just got the text on the VenomRex price drop; technically after the sale but before they shipped. Might just be good or lucky timing on my part, but it would have been easy for you to just let it slide and move on to the next sale.
You’re a stand up guy... And just earned a...
Installed gorilla brand black lug nuts on my stock wheels...
And realized that the factory did a crappy job mounting the tires. Need to align the barely visible red dot with the valve stem. Will greatly reduce the balance weight requirement.
May wait until I take these off for the VenomRex...
Looks like it took quite a bit of weight to balance... Have the installer align the red dot with the valve stem, you should be able to significantly reduce the amount of weight needed to balance.
Thanks Nick... I just purchased some black gorilla lugs for my stock wheels, not worried about using them for aftermarket rims but it’d be nice.
I assume the VenomRex wheel requires tuner lugs with a tapered base or something similar?
P.S. Nice new website design!
We’re cool... I just re-read both and can see how either could be considered a bit snarky. This is the problem with posts among strangers vs. face-to-face conversations...the subtle nuances of humor or good natured ball busting gets lost in translation.
Again, appreciate the well considered...
Did you actually read my post? Weight is only one factor for me...and a secondary one at that. I’m not doing mud runs or deep sand work, especially not on 20” wheels. Just need a tire that’ll perform well in mild off road conditions, and that will spend 80% of its life on paved roads.
So...
Great catch... and it wasn’t even a subliminal miss (or was it?!), just plain old fat fingers on the key pad! Edited original post to reflect 601s.
Also changed color... from anthracite to whatever the non-black, black color is on these things. Charcoal or something like that I think.
Edit...
Thanks! I actually bought the extended warranty through Ford...$600 more than this for the exact same coverage.
Luckily I’m still within the 60-day cancel for full refund period. Will do so tomorrow and reaccomplish through these guys.
Hi all, now that my tailgate swap is sorted it’s time to move on to more overt modifications. About 99% sure I’ll be getting myself a set of 601s in Carbon Graphite for Christmas and need to settle on tires. My stock wheels will get powdercoated and shod with true winter tires for when we head...
Gotta say, I’m kind of digging the PB... Can’t wait to see one in the metal, but I think those who ordered PB with the Recaros are in for a treat.
I am a bit surprised Ford didn’t choose a color more complimentary to the new orange anodized shocks as the “special” color for this year. Maybe...
Will be calling you tomorrow! I have a hidden hitch behind the plate on my Porsche too...always freaks everyone out to see it on a little sports car!
If these are being made to order, any chance to get the light cutout done specifically for BD or Rigid 2” cubes? Edit: And also without the...
