    Switch on OBD Port

Okay, try a global function test. Turn everything on one at a time - headlights, emergency blinkers, upfitter switches, AC, heater, defrost, turn signals, etc., and see if you can figure out what it does via trial and error. Comment: Previous owner was a ridiculous hack.

Right. We are very, very good at that. It's our superpower! ;)

To those considering a first generation raptor

" Early Raptors get a real world MPG of 9.5 to 11.8 MPG." Rubbish. I have nearly 100,000 miles on my GEN1, and I have gotten 14.8 to 15.5 mpg. It's a very good vehicle with an excellent engine, but it's not for every truck owner. After all it is a 6,000+ pound truck with aerodynamics only a...

    New Gen 1 Owner

@DMDRaptor , I can give a first-hand endorsement to Mag Hytec's rear differential cover. I put one on my 2011 SuperCab in 2014, and I can attest to its quality and ease of use. PN Ford 12-9.75. See here: http://mag-hytec.com/product/ford-12-9-75/ aFe also makes differential covers, but I...

    New Gen 1 Owner

All fluids age, regardless of use, and become increasingly acidic with time. So front and rear differentials, transfer case, transmission and filter, and power steering fluid. You might also consider a complete gravity bleed of the brake system, too. - Transfer case; 50 ounces of Mercon LV -...

    New Gen 1 Owner

Welcome and congratulations on your new acquisition! Did you get the prior maintenance records on your truck? I too have a 2011 supercab and can make some maintenance suggestions if you like.

    Around we go again

Given the description you gave for how you use a truck and your admission that you want (not need) an off-road vehicle for "aesthetic" reasons only, it is absolutely clear why you trade your off-road trucks so readily. You don't need an off-road vehicle. Neither do you need to pay the premium...

    Spark Plug Change

    Yeah, thanks for your help.

    Spark Plug Change

I gapped the new plugs at 0.044. That's within 0.001 of your spec for the 10-11 models, and in the zone for the later spec. Bottom line - the gaps of all 16 spark plugs was carefully standardized. Do you think that such a minor change of gap in an engine with two plugs per cylinder can create...

    Spark Plug Change

Corrected the date info. I write down mileage and gallons and calculate MPG at each fill up. No memory work involved, so no memory errors possible. All of that was general around town driving and one or two cross-state Interstate trips.

    Spark Plug Change

I'm going to resurrect this thread because it's Easter season. ;) I have a 2011 GEN1 6.2L and changed the spark plugs in March of 2022. I bought them at a Ford dealership parts counter - their current recommended spec plugs: Motorcraft SP-526 also known as CYFS-12-FP. Since then I have...

Some engineer is going to get fired

The "engineers" who should have been fired are the ones who declined to put drain plugs on differential covers, and the ones who put plastic pans on the engines and transmissions of America's premier off-road vehicle. The guys behind the cam phaser debacle ought to be out the door, too.

    Rear Camera Intermittently Not Working

    Spark Plug Change

It took me two days to do this job, and I went to bed stiff and sore both nights! A good collection of extensions, a U-joint, and wobble extensions makes the job a little less painful. A very good quality spark plug boot tool is absolutely essential.

    Remove Windshield Urethane Adhesive?

Try heating it and scraping it off with a plastic scraper. If you use a heat gun, I think you should use it on low setting and at a distance so that you don't blister the paint or ruin the ceramic coating. A hand-held hair drier should be sufficient if you're patient. Not sure this will work...

Is FM really better than AM? Is .45 ACP really better than 9mm? Is stannous fluoride toothpaste really better than sodium fluoride toothpaste? Is plastic really better than paper? Is your dog really badder than my dog? Geeeeeeze.

    2011

I have a 2011. It has just short of 100,000 miles. The only recall was the early replacement of the driveshaft, and the only failures were the transfer case and the rear camera. If I had it to do over again, I would and without hesitation. It's the finest vehicle I've ever owned.
