At 50K miles why would it need spark plugs? Modern spark plugs go 100K and still look pretty good. Unless the air filter is the original that was installed at the factory, it's hard to imagine how it could be dirty enough to alone account for 3 to 4 mpg. It's easy to check and cheap and easy...
I just used high temp exhaust paint from Auto Zone. Cleaned the tips real well, used high temp primer and then high temp black. That was years ago, and they still look good.
I have long wanted to have a place in my truck to put my phone, but commercially available cupholder phone holders claim a cupholder and air vent phone holders block air vents. Neither solution interested me. I didn't want something suction cupped to the windshield, either.
So this weekend I...
Absolutely true. When I still had the factory muffler I nearly frightened a guy in a convertible Mazda with the top down off the road when I passed him at wide open throttle. In retrospect I realized that height of the exhaust was probably equal to where his head was down in that little sports...
I know why. They don't want to burn their knuckles. The factory dipstick (I call it a dip toothpick) is about an inch to an inch and a quarter from the catalytic converter. The fill procedure is in two steps, first a cold fill with intentionally less fluid than was drained. Then you drive it...
If a fluid exchange machine will clean a transmission filter, don't you wonder why they don't also do oil changes that way?
It's rather insulting, isn't it, to be flim-flammed in a way that indicates that the scammer thinks you're both gullible and an idiot?
@Meat2022 is correct. No tune required for your stated mods.
But be advised that you will realize neither performance nor MPG gains from those mods. You will likely get better intake air filtration and a different exhaust note, however.
What a truck with 200K miles on the clock needs more...
Automobile systems are so integrated now that a non-standard engine swap that provides full functionality seems highly unlikely unless you swap in the computers, firmware, and software that go with the replacement engine. Even with that it seems a risky proposition.
Customer support from Chinese manufacturers is notorious. A case in point: My wife and I bought a Samsung dishwasher from Home Depot. It came with nothing. No hoses, which apparently has become common. No electrical cord of any kind, which is not common. I couldn't believe that the...
@Dblex you may not get an answer because this thread is six years old, but maybe my experience will help you. With 85,000 miles on my GEN1, my truck experienced the same kinds of failures reported here. It was a surprise to me, because I had changed the transfer case and differential fluids...
I am going to guess that the OP has been running the factory PS fluid for ten years. I hope not, but if so then that could well have contributed to the failure.
Well, I hope an adjustment may be made in some way. Dropping the fuel tank to get to the sender is risky work, and perhaps left to somebody with factory training and who has done it before.
Back in the day you could just rotate the gauge in the bezel, but that was before the world became digital.
What about Forscan? I don't know anything about it, but some FRF members are quite knowledgeable. A solution might be had that way, which would be way, way better than...
Mine did the same thing, but it wasn't the switch. All I had to do was simultaneously hit the switch and manually pull on the sliding glass. It engaged and closed. I have avoided fully opening it ever since, of course.
You can easily and cheaply prevent this from happening. You can wrap your horn wires with two layers of that corrugated plastic wire loom stuff. If you use two different sizes the larger will fit very nicely over the smaller, and the combination will make it a lot more difficult to clip the...
