Need some weight in the rear behind the axle, any ideas?

Freeze a politician and throw him back there. If you forget about him in the spring, you won't have to worry about him stinking. Politicians don't rot because bacteria can't tolerate them and flies are too discriminating to lay their eggs in them.

    Break-ins through door handles

Don't worry, it's just new member syndrome. He'll come down off the initial FRF high eventually. ;););)

    Break-ins through door handles

Thieves are just as likely to smash your windows simply looking for valuables. Of course, in any vehicle it's unwise to leave things where they can be seen through the windows, and there is no harm in taking steps to make a break-in more difficult.

    Break-ins through door handles

A better solution is to armor the horn wires so that they can't be clipped. Several layers of wire loom and/or a metal guard will do it. See posts #54 and #56, above.

    SVT break-in theft attempt

Yup. A little garage project with scraps of metal I had in my junk box. The horn wire guard, for example, is made out of a short length of tubular steel electrical conduit split lengthwise and then opened up.

    SVT break-in theft attempt

Dave, Your concerns for your home and family are well taken. Yes, lock the doors to your house and any vehicles parked outside. If you can, relocate vehicles kept outside to your back yard - especially if it's fenced. Motion sensing security lights on all sides of the house would be a good...

Trade a Raptor for a Lightning?

All true. It is also true that firefighting foams containing per- and polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) chemicals are toxic and the lawsuits are flying. The state of Indiana has 50,000 gallons of the stuff and is trying to get rid of it. Check this out...

Trade a Raptor for a Lightning?

It turns out that hurricanes and Teslas don't mix very well. The battery packs are heavy and therefore mounted low in the vehicles to improve handling by maintaining a low center of mass. That makes them vulnerable to salt water from hurricane Ian's storm surge. In one week nine EVs caught...

    Speedometer drops below 0

Oh, that would be really inconvenient, manufacturing off-label gasoline on a moving platform. It would probably violate a bunch of federal laws, and you'd have to stop and dump it or illegally sell it so your fuel tank wouldn't explode. No bueno!

4 Low use it or lose it.

I change fluid more frequently than that, and I don't tow but very, very infrequently. Even with that, my transfer case failed at 85,000 miles. It cost $1,719 to replace. Changing the fluid (Mercon LV) in the transfer case is easy - it actually has a for real drain plug!

4 Low use it or lose it.

I think it is. When you see firemen riding around in a fire engine when there is no emergency, they're just out exercising the machine. In the case of 4x4 vehicles, my take is that exercising the system is more about the front differential than it is about the transfer case. You stir up the...

GEN 2 Good resonator delete option

Yup, that's what resonators are designed to preclude - a sympathetic resonance. Everything has a resonance frequency. They knew that in the Dark Ages and Middle Ages. They knew to breach castle walls with battering rams by capitalizing on the natural frequency of the fortification and hitting...

    Backup camera doesn't always work

It might be as simple as dust/dirt contamination in the electrical connector at the tailgate. It won't hurt to eliminate that possibility by pulling the connector apart and blowing both sides out with compressed air. While you're there, inspect the electrical contacts for corrosion and burnish...

Will Ford Performance bless us with a tune?

"All of their [Ford Performance] vehicles have been spot on." Well, not really. Failing cam phasers are not exactly spot on. Leaking plastic engine and transmission pans are not what I'd call spot on, either. My frame of reference is only Raptors, and there is a whole litany of reliability...

Will Ford Performance bless us with a tune?

I don't think so. I read that several of the notable SVT people left for other opportunities when Ford disbanded the team. Regardless, results are evidently inferior.

Will Ford Performance bless us with a tune?

If it was an tune by the now disbanded but technically savvy Special Vehicle Team (SVT) that came up with the Raptor in the first place, I'd trust it. But I wouldn't trust Ford Performance as far as I can drop-kick them. I think that their "performance" has been pretty doggone poor.

6.2L spark plug change - tips and tricks

Neither. It is no more easy to destroy the engine changing the plugs on a 6.2L Ford engine than any other engine, and virtually any relatively accomplished non-professional can do it. It's a machine like any other. Work patiently, intelligently, and with adequate tools and you will be...

    Exhaust Upgrade

I put the Magnaflow #12388 on my GEN1 at 30K miles. It is a perfect fit - inlet and outlets perfectly match the factory exhaust system. It produces a deep, smooth, resonant exhaust note. That's good, but what I gave up was the raw, raspy sound of the factory muffler. I gained no additional...
