Meh, 2k goes a long way on a set of tires. Buy through Discount or Goodyear and get the tire certs and you've got zero deductible repairs/replacements.
Just a calculated risk. If its easier to finance the 2k and pay the extra $33/month than come up with the cash for a tire if one pops then its...
Ill rephrase
A vehicle is a collection of parts
It will last as long as you are willing to replace those parts as they fail.
Look at the modern restomod movement, take some pile mustang from the 60's that would have been considered unrevivable 20 years ago. Stick a custom chassis with a brand...
In US prices the smart money would be get a 3rd key made when you take delivery of the truck, should be under $200
Get warranty certificates for tires when you replace them, if you pay full price this is $250 for 5 tires
Oem seat covers can be had for around $500 per and are easy to install...
Can you post before and after dyno results? I couldn't care less about the numbers I'm more interested in the shape of the curve. What are the cam specs?
That's got to be a metallurgical issue, something in the batch. I would love to see pics of the springs when you get them off.
If you have a couple inches to spare geisers would do it for you.
I use the ballenger unit with HPtuners, works out really well. You get a large display plus it logs in HPT.
You will want 120+lb injectors if your going to make 850 at the wheels on e85. I'm not sure on the pulley diameter. Contact whipple and see what they recommend, they should know the...
I think you are much better off ordering a complete shortblock. Ford PN is al3z-6009-a. The lack of knowledgeable machinists in your area would make me nervous about the rebuild quality.
You will want something with the ability to datalog. Most displays are going to have enough latency you wont be able to correlate what your seeing to the event. The Ballenger AFR500V2 is about the same price, uses an NTK sensor and will allow you to plug into a datalogger.
The 2020 gt500 injectors are available for around $235 a set and will be easy on your tuner. Assuming 760 ish HP is enough on pump gas that will get you there. If you want E85 you will need to go bigger, what are your power goals for the truck?
I used second skin, I think its available on amazon. I used it more or less anywhere there was a clip or contact point. It is very pliable so you can draw it out into very thin pieces and use just a little wherever. It is "sticky" but releases from most glossy things pretty easily. I also used...
One overpriced vendor does not a race engine make. I just can't see putting the effort required into what its going to make a 6.2l work under those conditions, you will need custom parts, time spent measuring, designing and sourcing. There are several other modern engine platforms that are so...
Girdled cover on a 9.75... why? The carrier is massive, have you ever seen one broken, gears chewed, inner bearings fail? Maybe I am wrong but this seems like putting chocolate pudding on top of an exquisite mousse, it might make it stand out but doesn't seem necessary.
I could see trussing...
I recently did bed bolts on my 78, mostly it wasn't a problem I just used an impact and blasted them off. The ones that didn't cooperate I just drilled the heads off of. You have good access once the bed is off so it isn't a big deal, just go in with the mindset the bolts are sacrificial and zen...
The gt500 strategy is an interesting choice since its a 4 cam engine with very little in common with the 6.2l, and is a servo actuated TB. At that point I would think a 5.0 coyote control pack PCM would be ticket since it is already non BCM dependent, essentially RTR if you could fix the cam...
Step 1 is to locate then isolate the noise: If your confident its from the driver door pop the panel off, take it for a ride and see if the noise goes away or gets worse. If it gets worse its something inside the door and you just need to get in there and start rattling things around, replace...
The electronic throttle isn't a big deal to switch to manual, the logic is already in the ford PCM
Its easy to get rid of in Holley HP as well, and in the grand scheme of this project converting the engine to a manual TB is not a big deal.
Same deal with the auto, the logic to change it to...
Holley HP efi with stock harness, or stock harness and ECM with hptuners.
Your giving up a ton going from the Windsor to the Boss, Boss has almost no aftermarket support, Windsor has all the options. Why the Boss?
That low torque spec is to protect the gasket from distorting. A standard sheet metal cover will start to bend and dent in at the bolt holes at those pressures. The cover isn't a structural component so it doesn't need a lot of clamping force, just needs not to leak.
Agreed. Trying to align a truck with bad ball joints is about as useful as sighting in a rifle with a loose scope. I would go back to that shop, they proved they are honest and pay attention. A lot of places will do an alignment without bothering to inspect it then tell you to fly a kite when...
If you have a base shop available just do it. Bring the boys, knock it out. I bet you could do it all in a day, the U.S. military will not fail due to one man taking a day for "holistic self healing and meditation" :). Plus wrench time with sons should be a priority! Hell, take a day of leave...
