Pre - during - post recommendations for a long drive (1400miles)...

yes, pay attention to gas stations that have been converted into BBQ joints. It's usually where you get the best chow. otherwise, drive as necessary.

    Stock tire replacement

i've never met a nitto tire that I liked. Buyer beware, the belts in nittos like to break if you run your truck hard in the desert.

Trans dead (couple months after replacing the motor)

the carfax on my truck is hilariously "clean". Low miles, clean title, always offroaded. don't low ball me, I know what I have. The good news is, once you have a baseline of a known good drivetrain, these trucks are fairly easy to maintain.

All-New Ford F-150 Raptor Will Debut Feb. 3

they kind of had to move away from leaf springs. The rear suspension of raptors has always been the limiting factor. I wish they had gone to coilovers in the rear, but I understand why they didn't ( cost). Linked/coil suspensions on jeeps are great, and short course suspensions can certainly...

All-New Ford F-150 Raptor Will Debut Feb. 3

on the rear suspension, I'm not quite sure how you'll be able to improve travel without having spring ejection issues or having to change the lower arms and mounting points. I think that the gen3s are going to have a much longer ramp time for aftermarket parts and any material performance...

    Baja Raptor Run

when you do this hobby long enough, you end up with one of those. While not anywhere near as bad, I have a special rock that I visit outside of bay of LA. My passenger side doors remember it vividly. there is also a cactus in Tucson that I daydream about lighting on fire.

All-New Ford F-150 Raptor Will Debut Feb. 3

it looks like a pre-15 f-150 with a knock-off raptor grill to me. I am a big fan of the way the gen2s look. I feel like Ford wanted to pay homage to the OG, but over-rotated a bit. Any of my other initial observations are around complexity in modifying the new trucks, but to be honest, I...

    Baja Raptor Run

If y'all want to just do something leisurely, There is nothing that you'd need outside of Radio, chase lights, fire extinguisher, 2 spares, a level head and a good attitude. I recommend bump stops, but only because they can help keep someone from a sore back. a stock raptor will tell you...

    Baja Raptor Run

If you find a chubby white dude with a beard tent camping in your driveway, please don't be upset. You must not be too far from Cal's, eh? Erendira isn't too far from Baja animal outreach. (San Jacinto- right on the beach). If you ever get the chance to cruise down, Rick and his wife will...

    Baja Raptor Run

I can talk to the owner of ExO and see if he'd be willing to do the run. The crew is currently down in Baja prerunning for this year's routes, so it might be a couple of weeks before I have a chance to talk to him about it. I would need y'all to collectively settle on a few potential dates and...

    Baja Raptor Run

I sincerely hope that you have an amazing time on your trip! Half of the fun for me, personally, is showing folks "The Baja" that I've been shown, and discovered. Little spots that it would take years of exploring to stumble across. I went to Baja my first time with ExO. While I have been to...

    Baja Raptor Run

serious answer, it depends. I don't bomb through any water crossing, as I don't want to deal with hydrolocking the engine or a drenched air filter. the risk of ruining the trip and my truck isn't worth "doing it for the gram" to me. The raptor's intake "funnel" is just above the top of the...

used prices on TK-790s are -$250-500. a refurb from pci is $1000. My radio is my lifeline. I have been stuck, out of radio range for a few hours. it sucks, a lot. Call me crazy, but I run an nx-5700.
