Got my starter done yesterday, old one was getting slow even with a new battery, got a Powermaster 9632 (BTW Amazon lies it IS the right one for a Gen1 6.2L). That top bolt was just as bad as I thought it would be. Finally got it out with a 1/4" drive ratchet, 2-1/2" or so 1/4" extension, 1/4"...
Master reset did the trick! And strangely none of my settings seem changed, but whatever it works and reads the B15 nav card no problem.
Got the new Powermaster starter but took a look and ugh, that top bolt is going to be a mother bear. Soaked all three bolts with penetrating oil, will...
Mine has the same A3 that was in it when I bought it in '17 haha! I got the eternal "Navigation loading..." with the new ($22 from Amazon so slightly sketchy) B15 though so I'll try a master reset and update Sync again, hopefully yours works as advertised.
Ever been faced with such a monumental difficult decision that it's almost impossible to wrap your head around? One where you question your very fabric of reality? I'm not talking something as mundane as which PPF to have done (Gen2 guys) or just how much ADM is cool to pay (Gen3 guys), but...
Attempted Sync update, got some out of memory/bad media error on like the last file, and no xml log file so...not sure if updated or not. Stupid Sync. Guess I'll see if the B15 nav card I ordered works when it gets here next week, if not will try a Master Reset and update again...
Rear axle pinion seal leaking on and off last couple months, ordered a new one from Tasca (and stupidly the deflector and nut, didn't need either one), ordered OTC seal installer tool, was backordered, just got it and she's leaking again:
Got it removed (HF 3-jaw puller set for $21.99 worked...
My totally uninformed wild-ass guess is 45° nose up since oil would collect towards the sump/pickup, half that or so side-to-side, and significantly less (like 5-10°) nose down...
Nice! I need to replace my pinion seal as well, any tips? I'm hoping the FordTechMakuloco youtube videos will get me through it, I went ahead and ordered a 12-point Sunex universal socket and the OTC seal driver, still need a HF 2-jaw puller and an impact socket for the pinion nut, is it 45mm...
Inflation mang, everything got expensive. But drink the kool-aid and everything's just fiiiine, in fact (fact checked) it's way cheaper now...and you're probably racist against mechanics or something.
$2200 is probably par for the course though, last year I replaced mine with a Cardone reman...
Trade ya straight across for my grocery getter Exploder Base haha! ST is pretty cool, I wouldn't mind having one of those, or a PIU and better seats/console. Funny thing is here in TX the Exploder is registered as a truck and I guess because the GVWR is like 100lbs heavier than my Raptor it...
