    2014 gen 1 performance mods

First of all, who you callin'  old? But yes, losing 1/3 of the hp at the flywheel (in an off-road application) is a thing. Same as fuel mileage plummeting when you're spinning the tires in silt. The bigger the tire, the more hp disappears. A Gen 1 Raptor uses a slightly modded F-250 motor that...

    Shipping to CA

I'm staying here as long as my 95yo mother is still alive. Then, I can reassess the situation. But right now I'm within 90min tops from her home, and she deserves that.

Californians hate California more than every other state. Just sayin'.

I've Owned my Raptor for 2 Months, It's been at the dealer for Most of it

This thread could be about a marriage. "I've been married for 2 months, and she's been at her parent's for most of it". "Everytime I get her hot, she runs into the bathroom and won't come out. What should I do?".

    Should I Buy?? - 2013 Raptor, 373K Miles for $8,000???

Everytime I see a BaT auction with Paint Meter Readings on it, I gotta admit that seems silly for a pickup truck designed to be taken offroad. They've never experienced the "Barstow Pinstripe" phenomenon?

    Tail Lights Gen1

Apparently, you don't know that "Cracked Tail Light" is code for flaming g ay.

Well, it isn't pretty, but it is done. There are sections where the oem bucket was sanded down so much (to stuff in the KHC part) that it's too thin to weld up to the thick KHC plate). Instead, I was able to rosette weld the 5 bolt holes, got plenty of wire at the junctions, (didn't set the...

I've been delayed on the project for a couple days: the dog dug out under the chain link and it ended up in a very ugly fight with 2 of the neighbor's dogs.. Mine is a 5yo Husky male, the neighbor's are an adult male Doberman & a female Boxer. Luckily, the neighbor's and I have always worked...

yeah, you'll never see a full set of 5 of 'em.

fine to twist bottom of strut into place?

There's definitely Raptors up here in the Hi Dez, but we're outnumbered by those Starbucks-edition jeeps.

fine to twist bottom of strut into place?

In other words, "measure twice, cut once". It sucks (and it's kinda scary), to rotate the bottom rod end all the way around, but you'll always have to rotate it that last little bit to slide into the LCA's. It's certainly not as easy on a 3.0 Fox coilover as it was on a Gen 2 tacoma unit.

I guess its youtubers who leased a Gen 2 and break a nail trying to work on them?

    Best undercarriage/rock lights?

I remember back in the '80's, where it was normal to carry a ridiculous 2ft long flashlight and need a 3rd hand to hold it while changing a tire. Now, I've got 4 of these, one in the garage, one in my DD, 2 more in the house.

    Best undercarriage/rock lights?

We've always had them pointed at the hub. It makes a huge difference during a tire change or doing trail repairs at night.

BTW, there's lots of room for getting a wrench on the D-side. The Gen 2 guys claim it a tight fit getting the 3 nuts off their buckets.... must be all the turbo stuff getting in the way, it's not an issue on a Gen 1truck.

Well, it's trimmed, and the new bucket is stuffed in there. They left a window to reach that spark plug, (but I hope I never need to put another one in there). To their credit, the KHC buckets leave clearance to the engine block on both sides, and allow the motor to "flex" without it smashing...

P-side shock bucket, pre-surgery. Looks like this side gets welded on instead of messing with trying to drill sideways. The holes they predrilled in the new buckets (that won't clear aftermarket boxed steel UCA's at full droop), will be used for a rosette weld instead. "work smarter, not harder".

    Should I Buy?? - 2013 Raptor, 373K Miles for $8,000???

So.... you vote a definite... maybe. But the time factor is inescapable. A Raptor in the garage is worth 2 in the junkyard, or something like that.

Checking in from TX with a $19,999.99 Gen 1(DFW)

Crawling around on cold wet concrete is not fun in your 60's. Having a lightweight portable hydraulic lift like this: https://quickjack.com/car-lifts/7000tl/ will lift a Raptor about 2'; and clear my 9' ceiling.

I'll dig up the original window sticker and post it Iater. Maybe that will help figure it out.

That's what I thought, but the Raptor badge seems original. I also noticed the tailgate isn't wired for a camera, either. And I still can't figure out what's missing. Does the "midget stripper pole" attach where the missing bracket should be?
