    Changed plugs today

The fitting on the right side is round, impossible to put a socket on like the D-side hex fitting. The oil line/fitting/filter is hidden behind the ac compressor. This stuff makes me so happy to own a Ford.

    Changed plugs today

For comparison, these 6 were just removed from a 2012 3.5 ecoboost with 180XXX total miles, but spark plug miles unknown. I'm keeping the new ones at the .028 gap that Fordtechmakuloco recommended. The reason they were removed is due to a P-side turbocharger coolant line leak. To get to that...

WTB: Gen 1 Raptor Supercharged pref

Have you done research to determine the best supercharger brand for your application? Do you want the one that wrings out the absolute maximum hp/tq or the one with the lowest failure rate? Do you want the Hennessey logo on the door and are willing to buy a Gen 1 with their complete package? Or...

    Keep or Return?

The good news is, there's every reason to believe that a clean, well maintained and correctly modified Gen 1 Raptor should become a classic, just like the Bronco & Mustang did. Look how much the OG Steve McQueen fastback sold for. And it was in horrible mechanical shape; rusted, tired motor...

"Does anyone know where this part came from?" I'll take "things you never want your surgeon to say" for $100, Alex.

    Keep or Return?

Here's the short list of new/rebuilt parts I have on my 2011. In no particular order, all parts were installed here; so there's no labor cost except a front alignment. The engine oil, rear diff fluid, & trans fluid were lab tested as well. Purchase price: $33K. Rebuilt 6r80, $2500, rebuilt...

Top hat failure with aftermarket springs

The other reason they are breaking suspension is that it's all new terrain for everyone except the guides. We would prerun laps in Barstow 4-5 times at a relaxed pace, make notes, communicate hazards by radio, even mark stuff with spray paint prior to race day.

Top hat failure with aftermarket springs

People have been over-driving F150's in the desert since the I-beam was invented. There wasn't an instagram around to post the latest "Yard Sale", (aka parts-shredding crash), back then. I've bottomed out hard enough to force dual Rancho rebuildable shocks right through the shock mounts, I've...

    WTB Gen 1 Upgraded Spindles

    WTB Gen 1 Upgraded Spindles

Gen 1 spindles, with SDHQ gussets properly tig welded, & heat treated at a fab shop that actually knows how. About $1K, plus the spindles, then another hundy or so for the 12point hardware. I've never seen a "used" set for sale, though.

    Insurance: What the Fr*ck!

It's been stated that everyday, another 10,000 people retire. Their bi-weekly investments will stop, and most will start drawing from their savings instead. The combined wealth transfer happening in the near future is going to change investing forever. The generation behind them is smaller...

    Insurance: What the Fr*ck!

There's always somebody with a "special" deal who can get a guaranteed higher rate. LA's Dept of Water & Power used to guarantee 8% on their employee's 457 contributions.... because they have the ability to just raise utility rates when they need to. But in the real world, not so much.

What did u do to your raptor today?

What did you do to the ring gear? Looks almost like it was all sandblasted. This is what mine (2011 with 148xxx miles) looked like after draining it.

    Insurance: What the Fr*ck!

Not renewing insurance isn't an option, unless the mortgage is paid off. Once the final principal is paid this year, I've got options.. my property taxes will be about $7-8/day. Water & natural gas is another $4-5/day. Auto insurance about $3/day. Solar panels eliminated the electric bill...

    Insurance: What the Fr*ck!

Another advantage of paying off the mortgage is that you are no longer subject to the whims of insurance carriers. Many places are seeing ridiculous policy increases, especially Florida. I like the option to tell them You're Fired if I choose.

He might sound a little corny, but there's a lot of common sense there too. Like whenever you walk into the bank, you notice they have nicer furniture than you do. When my mortgage is paid off, I will also stop paying for their furniture. I certainly use my credit card whenever I'm purchasing...
