    Giant motorsports ddl kit install

Oh yeah, no problem. I could pull some measurements if anybody wants them. It's still rocking, I'm actually searching for a new front end, as the baja kits 2.5 kit is not keeping up. Hucked a pretty large roller at 103 mph and did a full two count before we touched down. Bent the tops of the...

Fox 3.0 rear bypass custom tuning/valving anyone ?

Just google external bypass shock. That's what both the icon and fox rears are. There are only very small details that are different, function is identical. The coilovers are different however, the fox's are an internal bypass, the icons are a regular piston, with a bottoming cup to ramp up...

Fox 3.0 rear bypass custom tuning/valving anyone ?

If you're packing too much weight you can put the rear bypasses out of the ride zone. That's where I was going there. Conversely, if you have to tall of springs, you can also get out of that ride zone.

Fox 3.0 rear bypass custom tuning/valving anyone ?

You noticed the fox's not doing well on chop with the rear packing 800 pounds of stuff ? Or unloaded as well ? I saw a dramatic difference between the icon and fox coilovers on chop, the icons were brutal, even on the softest setting. The fox coilovers were better on all types of terrain for...

    Raptor shocks on f150

Yes it's possible. Only issue you will have will be related to the steering rack position and bump steer. I can comment on this because I'm running a 2wd long travel kit on my raptor. The issue I had was related to the vertical difference in mounting location of the steering rack to tie rod...

    Giant motorsports ddl kit install

Yeah, the alteration in anti squat is mostly from where I mounted the third link in relation to the lower link pockets. Now under throttle the rotational moment of the rear axle pulls the chassis downwards enough to cancel out the upwards thrust vector of the relatively short lower link arms...

    Giant motorsports ddl kit install

Three link setup is working great ! Ditched the axle control shocks entirely and cut in a currie sway bar. Antisquat behaviour is improved with the three link geometry, it doesn't "stiffen" up the rear suspension quite as much under throttle. That translates to a less jarring trip across the...

    Swapping springs on Icon 3.0's

The full soft position is still too harsh on fast, high frequency hits. The spring rate is around 100 pounds higher than the fox's, but it's kind of necessary due to the way a non bypass shock works. You can have the damping to deal with big stuff, or the damping to provide a nice ride at...

    Stepping out

Definitely rebuild time, regardless. Nitrogen charging is the least of worries during the rebuild, tooling is less than $100, or most sxs, bike, snowmobile shops can do it. It's not hard to rebuild them, but I haven't met a lot of people who have got it right the first try. Just bite the bullet...

Yeah, kind of a deceptive pic.

The fish plate is 8" long. It's got a 2 to 1 or better leverage ratio. That fails, and I'll be cutting the frame off and four linking this bitch !

    Giant motorsports ddl kit install

Works out to 1" of driveline plunge, pinion angle stays within 2 degrees for most of the travel until full droop where it rolls up 6 degrees to minimize plunge as much as possible. Anti squat is 90% at ride height, 65% at 4" of compression from ride height, 40% at full bump. 110% at full droop.

    Trr 2016 carnage

I have a sneaking suspicion that the issue with the baja kit tower failing is isolated to the 3.0 kits. Which would explain why Simon and I have tortured our 2.5 kits without any troubles so far.

    Trr 2016 carnage

Excellent info, exactly what I was looking for. I couldn't imagine not using an engine brace with that kit ! The towers are way up there off the frame ! I'll get busy reinforcing the towers and engine brace.

    Trr 2016 carnage

That's probably more in regards to poor social decisions ! I was mostly curious if there was an increasing failure rate on axles as setups became more serious ? Also I had read a comment on the facebook page about a similar failure happening on several baja kits front ends ? Both of those...

    Trr 2016 carnage

Some may find a thread like this in bad taste, but it is very useful for others who want to know where the soft spots are, and be preemptive in reinforcing them. Lots of good information came out of the last few large events. So please post up your misfortune so that others might learn...

Got the brace on to provide an upper link mount. I should have the upper link done in a few days.

    GEN 1 Steering Wheel Feedback

The dealers won't do anything unless the shocks are visibly leaking. They have no tooling or knowledge to rebuild them, so they usually just replace them. You're best off just sending them to fox.

Hi, I'm a complete noob when it comes to suspension and have some questions.

It's got to do with the location of the bypass ports in the stock front shocks. Top perch puts you out of the ride zone, hence the crappy ride. Binding doesn't happen with either setup. What happens is that the cv's have less surface area engaged internally, the greater the angle placed on...

    GEN 1 Steering Wheel Feedback

That's exactly what I thought. But I soon found myself with a welder in hand attacking the truck. It's a slippery slope

    Giant motorsports ddl kit install

That'd be the same as an old school two link setup. It would be too much pinion angle change and driveshaft plunge, given the total travel. They work on low travel setups, a few trucks had them from factory many years ago.

    GEN 1 Steering Wheel Feedback

Mine was the same way when my factory shocks needed a rebuild. I had less miles on mine too. No bouncy behaviour, just odd feedback over small stuff.
