Stanley Proto is a great moderately price torque wrench that is made in the USA. I've had the cheaper torque wrenches from Craftsman, Husky, etc and the quality isn't even close to the Proto. They are a little bit more money but worth it not to break bolts/studs or in this case possibly have...
Funny this thread just popped up. My wife commented on this yesterday and said "oh you wave at Raptors, I thought that was a stupid Jeep thing." I wave at every F150 we pass now just to piss her off.
I've noticed the factory radio in my truck won't pull up all of the Sirius channels. The highest number channel it will pull up is 219. It kind of pisses me off that I'm effectively paying for channels that I'm not getting. Also, in my opinion the only channel worth listening to on Sirius is...
Have you tried Five Star Ford in Dallas? I didn't purchase my truck there so I can't recommend a salesperson. Their service department has treated me very well though. I was in there a few weeks ago and they had a red 2020 in the showroom. I drove all the way out to Gladewater to purchase...
I bought my truck from a small town Ford dealer and the sales guy told me the truck I bought was the first Raptor they had or sold. I told him it wasn't necessary but I think Ford makes them go through all the features as part of the delivery process. We both got a chuckle out of him trying to...
I think the front differential will be the major problem on these. It looks like several owners have completely exploded the front differential case already. Correct me if I'm wrong but it's my understanding only the rear axle was upgraded to a full float dana 60 and nothing was done to the...
I've never had issues with the plastic getting too hot or melting, even with the exhaust running right by it and a catalytic converter 2 inches away from it. It's going to be on the outside and shielded from direct heat by the steel or aluminum that forms the structure of the skidplate. If...
I agree, the stock gas tank skid is fine and I haven't had any issues with it. The front skidplate that covers the engine is also pretty stout and will hold up fine as well. I got into some rocks on the last trip to Moab and really beat up the skidplate that covers the transmission and...
These trucks are a blast in the snow, had a great time driving it in the rare Texas "blizzard" this week. I'm not a native Texan; grew up learning to drive in Kansas and Colorado so I keep my distance from everyone else down here when we get any ice or snow like this. The other trucks I've...
Couldn't a good exhaust shop just measure the difference and bend/weld in a loop? The high-end exhaust shops around here build much more intricate stuff than this for hot-rods all day long. I also don't see how Ford is going to patent the x-pipe, that's been done for 30+ years at least.
My local mom and pop tire shop will balance and rotate for free if you buy your tires from them. IMO, it's totally worth paying a little more up front for the tires. I'm also in and out in 10-15 minutes vs waiting hours at the national chains to get the same job done.
Hennessey doesn't have the best reputation among the Viper crowd where they started out. They even have a term for getting burned by John in the Viper community, Hennescrewed. I can't believe they are still around but then again there is a new sucker born every day. He is a great PR guy...
If I were to buy another new 3/4 ton truck I'd get the 7.3 gas motor. This dude made 780HP n/a with one and 1,450 HP with a whipple supercharger. https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a35150473/fords-73-liter-godzilla-v-8-can-make-1450-hp-with-a-supercharger/
I vote Raptor unless you are towing something that requires a 3/4 ton truck. All the emissions stuff they put on the new diesels made me lose interest. The raptor rides so much better too. Maybe I'm just getting old but that alone would make it hard for me to ever consider going back to a 3/4...
Yeah, mine has worked loose a couple of times too. I finally got it to snap on there pretty solid last time it happened. If it happens again I'm going to gorilla glue it on there though.
This is the best weight distribution hitch on the market and it has built in sway control that works:

^ This will solve the problem. I've towed heavier than that with my Gen 2 in heavy wind and...
I always park mine in the garage even though it's a pain to get in there. We have a huge problem with auto theft here, particularly trucks. They were hacking GM vehicles especially through the onstar system. However, thieves are getting so advanced they are picking up the signal given off by...
Yep, I almost got mine stuck in an automatic carwash shortly after I bought it. The guy at the carwash said it would fit, but it didn't lol. Luckily it didn't damage the truck. I've only hand-washed it at home since then. Almost every automatic carwash around me now use brushes which are...
I believe I posted about this before but my glovebox looked like the initial picture posted when I picked it up from the dealer. It turned out to just be the way the owner's manual was shoved in there from the factory. The manual in these trucks has to be the largest I've ever seen btw, bet it...
I thought the Ford ESP plans were only available for purchase up to 41k miles. Doesn't this truck have 44k miles? I might be mistaken but that was my understanding when talking to Flood.
I don't think the pricing on Flood's website has been updated yet. There was supposedly a 5% increase on 1/6/21. They have a disclaimer on their site stating the following:
"Price good thru 1/5/2021. Ford's 2021 pricing increase comes 1/6/2021."
Oddly, the pricing they now have listed is...
I've had good luck with the K02's and I'm glad Ford puts these on from the factory. I've owned probably 10 sets now and ran them on my last 2 trucks as well. We run the BFG stickies on our Jeeps and I still think those are the best rockcrawling tires available. I'd definitely prefer the BFG...
