Jimbo Why don't you go install some lights on your X5. Here's an idea for you.
I don't see how it would take 4 hours to align and install the cam bolts. The cam bolts would be done as part of the alignment and it shouldn't take any more time than usual. I'm taking it to my buddies at 4WP to...
Dropped off my Raptor at my dealer this morning for the first time in 20k miles. Had them look at the fan speed motor acting goofy (resistor issue), had them check a vibration in the steering wheel when braking (possible rotor or CV issue) and had them check the alignment and install the cam...
I know you mentioned tri-fold, but have you looked at the new Revolver X2 from Bak Industries? It's the latest improved version of their Roll-X cover and it is awesome. I was convinced I wanted a tri-fold as well, until I saw one of these in person.
Check it out...
I've got a little over 20k miles. It'll be a year old on Saturday. It's still under warranty, but I like to have an idea of what's wrong before going to the dealer so I can help point them in the right direction and also know when they're trying to B.S. me.
I should be able to recreate the...
Sorry to piggy-back onto this thread, but my '14 just recently began to randomly change the fan speeds. Doesn't matter if the A/C is on auto or manual. If the fan speed is set to 3, the fan will start as if it's on 3, then shoot a short burst of air as if it's on 5, then back down to 3. It'll...
There's no way you were running 4LO on the highway and not noticed. I think you may have been in 4HI and possibly knocked it into 4LO by accident when getting home, or someone was f@cking with you and changed it on you at the end to make you think you were in 4LO. I've spent hundreds of hours...
Yeah, the more I look at the kits and my options, the more I feel like the bump stop is the way to go. I plan on using an Equalizer hitch with sway bars, so that should help control sway and reduce the sag on the rear springs. However, I just don't feel like new springs are really a priority...
With stock leaf springs and unloaded, how much space is there between the strike plate and the bottom of the bump stop at the lowest setting (tow/payload mode)?
My fear is that under a full load, the rear will sag from the load on stock springs and the bump stops won't be anywhere near...
I don't have $3k to drop on a new rear suspension upgrade. Therefore, if I only had $1500, would you upgrade to Deaver leafs or get the bump stop kit?
I assume +3 is the way to go here? Any reason to go +2 only?
What's the danger here?
Keep in mind that I'm not getting the bump stop kit to increase my travel for off-road use. I'm getting the bump stop kit to assist in towing and increase payload capacity during long trips while towing a trailer. When not towing, I would use the stock setting on the...
We purchased a travel trailer that weighs about 5300 lbs dry. Once I take into consideration the tongue weight and passenger/gear weight, I'm slightly over what is recommended by Ford for the Raptor. Not by much, but I'm over on the total payload for the truck and rear axle. I plan on using a...
I don't recommend telling Ford about it. Ford dealerships don't like any suspension modifications, even if it's on their own equipment. They may use it as an excuse to void your warranty on specific driveline components. If you're out of warranty, then I guess it won't matter. Even then, I...
At the risk of derailing this thread even further, top perch increases the angle of the driveshafts and accelerates the wear on the CV joints. For those that off-road often, the wear is exponential and results in much faster CV joint failure. Those that don't often off-road may get away with...
Neither the age of the owner nor the age of the vehicle have anything to do with modifications. A lot of folks buy the Raptor because it's the baddest-ass production truck on the market. They modify it for no other reason that just to make it look cooler.
If it's on top perch, I recommend...
Did you buy it new or used? It looks like it's riding a little high in the front and looks like it either is on top perch or has a leveling kit installed. Either one of those may shorten the life of your CV joints.
If you bought it used, look at the front Fox shock absorbers and look for...
Thanks. Yeah, this is my first dual-axle trailer. I hauled an 18" jet-boat years ago, but it was much lighter and only had a single axle. I hauled it with a Suburban and didn't have to level it really. Never had issues with it.
This looks much more complicated than I thought. I may just...
