update
drove it on the street yesterday- drives great!! Once I get the straps in and swap out the bushings its ready for offroad testing. Here are some pics- check out the groud clearance with the lower mounts gone.
Starting on the next truck this week- gonna make a few changes in the design
Thanks! We can do it at our shop for anyone. Just will be more expensive until we get the parts into production- takes me a lot of time making everything all by hand.
still in the design stages right now. Energy suspension doesnt have a poly kit for the newer trucks but I am playing with kits from other trucks to figure out bushings that work. the rear spring bushing must also be changed
full compression
all welded up testing full compression. Should be rapping it up tomorrow. Still waiting on shackles and straps but we will be testing it on the street tomorrow. Full compression to full droop gets 16in travel with stock shackles. More pics tomorrow
travel
on a side note I took some pics to show how much the rubber busings in the stock shackle limit the travel along with rubber spring bushings. They dont allow for full droop with shocks mounted in stock location. I losened them up and got 15 ins of travel- pic showing them loose and they...
No need for changing bedsides.
The idea behind the cantilever is to use 12 ins of travel (shock) and turn it into 16 without cutting through the bed. If you look at the lever the distance of the hole from the pivot bushing are different - shock mount hole is shorter to the pivot and longer...
Properly greased with poly grease they will never squeak. If u look at jarretts truck u will see extended shackles with poly bushings and poly spring bushings. Rubber bushings restrict travel they are not meant for it. They isolate noise. Poly performs better for sure also.
Upwards mounted...
Our red raptor will be the first truck- it runs fox 3.0s. I was inspired by sdhq after seeing there set up and for most cutting the bed is not a great option. Ultimitely I want to be able to offer this kit as a bolt on option.
This set up uses standard 12 travel shocks- we are using 3.0s. Icon and fox. If u take a close look at the levers you will see three holes- one will be connected via links to the axle. The farthest holes is 16 in travel middle is 14 and the inside hole is 12 travel. This hole will be eliminated...
Some pics of the forward shock mounts almost done. 1/4 in mounting plates that bolt to frame with 5 - 1/2in bolts. Frame will be sleeved and bolts will go thru both sides.
Plan is to make the lever mount bolt on also. Stay tuned
Hugh
It will work for spring under also. Spring under is actually easier since the springs archs lower- the mount for the lever is the tuff part- clearing the spring. The idea behind this is to make it work for both and be bolt on.
I have been working on a cantilever set up that will work with spring over set ups along with all aftermarket bump stop kits. Goal is to get 14-16 ins of travel while moving the shock out off harms way and getting rid of the week upper mount. A extended shackle will be part of the set up. The...
Nice list!!! spindle gussets for sure if you are running it off road. You will need alignment cams also. A tune will go a long way also along with headers.
yes. just press out the rubber assembly and install poly bushings. The older f150 kits with 3 in wide springs work or super duty kits if I remember correctly. I can confirm I lose a inch of down travel due to the rubber bushings. If you are running nationals you can get poly bushings from...
Polyperformance makes a extended shackle that lower the truck a little but will allow for more travel (down). Has poly bushings. Unless you are set up for more travel stick with the stock shackle- its plenty strong- the bracket that holds it is the weak point but unless u are killing it off...
axle exchange in fairfield nj makes them- we use them all the time. check out their site. JDM sells their shafts also. AE is big in the mustang world. They are top notch
