My understanding is that the residue on the windshield is from the continued off-gassing of the plastic and other petroleum-based products in the interior. The tip from Adam’s Polishes was to use exterior paint glaze to clean the windshield interior. The solvent base of the glaze breaks down the...
@4x4TruckLEDs.com Any chance of a group buy for the upcoming launch of headlights for the 09-14 trucks? TRS has their preorder page up, but I’m in no hurry and would wait for discounts if they come. My truck came with halogens originally, but I converted to the OEM FX4 HIDs using the Morimoto...
People keep complaining about the Power Wagon not having a diesel. FCA has said that the diesel won’t clear the electronic quick disconnect sway bar mechanism due to the size of the engine. I’m guessing this is part of the reason that Ford didn’t go the disconnecting sway bar route since they...
Not a Gen 2, but I’m using 3M Chrystalline CR90 and it doesn’t noticeably change the appearance of the windshield and offers some heat rejection and UV protection. The attached image shows the specs for the tint across the different light transmission options. I wear polarized sunglasses and...
I’m definitely intrigued by the Uniden R7, but I’ll wait until they’ve actually implemented the GPS-based auto lockouts. I currently have that feature with my V1 by using the Bluetooth integration with the V1Driver app on my iPhone. I would hate to revert back to going without it for a feature...
If you’re running HID retrofits, you likely have a Hi-Lo relay harness. The relay would be the box central to the harness. Depending on whether you have the latest version of the relay housing, it could’ve failed due to water intrusion and/or age. It would be similar to this...
@Pacific Wheel Great list. I think load ratings might be helpful as well since that might play a part in choosing between wheels of similar weights if you’re going for perceived strength and low weight. It’s also often telling if one manufacturer doesn’t provide certain metrics.
Just an update. I’m currently running a 5 Star tune to try it out. They wrote a 91 performance tune based on the PCM Strategy code that I had after the dealer applied the recall-based update.
Right or wrong, I wasn’t completely happy with SVC’s response. I really like their tune, but it’s not...
I reapplied my SVC Revision 4 Tune. I'll reply back if I have any issues. Based on feedback from the author of the tune, reapplying it shouldn't have undone any safety related transmission programming updates from the recall.
I dearly missed the raised speed limiter and better shift patterns...
SVC still works with the same tuner, but the tuner and SVC support various racing seasons etc. and it was really just deemed that they didn’t have enough time to devote to custom tunes in addition to everything else since there is only one tuner. At least that’s the general idea I got from Jeff...
I have not yet. Driving my truck on the stock tune for a bit to ensure that it didn’t create any issues beyond what it was supposed to fix. I can confirm that strategy and SWPN codes changed after the dealership updated my PCM per the recall. I shared this with SVC and their tuner confirmed that...
Your guess is as good as mine. You might contact Jeff Thompson At @svc as he’s the one that followed up with the tuner and they won’t allow you to speak directly with the tuner. Maybe their tune is not strategy code dependent? I did capture the strategy code and SWPN numbers off the vehicle...
FYI. If you’re running the @svc tune, you’re likely going to have to run the updated stock tune for a while and possibly indefinitely unless you go with another vendor who is still actively offering PCM tuning.
One of the other vendors here has posted a response on their site regarding how...
I have a dealership appointment scheduled for this Friday. They seemed to be familiar with the recall and said they had programming available for everything except the 2013 trucks.
I checked on the Ford Owner site and saw the recall alert after logging in. Additionally, I just got an email from the NHTSA today for the same thing. Guess I’ll be reflashing my PCM to stock and then scheduling a dealership appointment. I’ll have to check with SVC regarding whether reflashing...
@Dalamar Did you check Melling part 10397BR? It’s their high performance pump with billet gears. Runs about $480 shipped or so from Summit or RockAuto after discounts. Rock Auto appears to have a couple in stock. Summit drop ships from the manufacturer.
Regardless, it’s recommended that you do a fluid change due to potential differential oil water contamination in the front and rear if water goes above the wheel hubs. I’d use that as more of a guideline. If your fluid gets contaminated, you may have increased longterm wear and/or premature gear...
Lowlife_raptor RDFTS The SDHQ HD alignment cam kit made by SPC should have come with instructions which are also available online. The torque spec is 198 lb-ft.

HAP I’ll quote a rough explanation of how it works. Although, ignore the PSI values used. Honestly, it’s really more of an ON/OFF vs Low, Medium, or High.
HAP Blame all the past idiots who complained to dealers about their fluctuating oil pressure. They didn’t know anything about pressure varying with RPM and other variables. Ford saw fit to “fix” the problem by giving them a “gauge” that stays rock steady until there REALLY is a PROBLEM!
