    Damaged Shock housing

But if the leveling kit consist of a spacer on top of the spring tower it will allow excessive down travel. Possible problems: UCA contacting the spring; upper ball joint binding (damaging ball joint or braking spindle); in 4x4 damaging CV joints.

I was confronted with the problem as I was jumping in to the truck to get to the airport. (Working at this time in Birdman's neighborhood) But Lucky me, Noah will be in Portland over the weekend and he offered to stop by (on his way there or back) at my house and take a look at it. Noah Rocks!

    Mid/Top Perch-Couldn't you just cut a coil?

All else equal, a longer spring wire will be a softer spring. A progressive spring uses a longer spring wire but spaces some coils closer to each other. As the spring compresses the closer spaces coils will settle on each other effectively shorten the spring wire and the remaining spring will be...

    Mid/Top Perch-Couldn't you just cut a coil?

Cutting a coil will lower the truck and stiffen the spring.

Next time you're out in some loose sand, just for shits and giggles, 4x4 and rear locked, from a stand still spin the wheels and drop it down to the axels. Take all four down to 7psi and with a light touch drive it out... You don't have to post the result; I, and other old farts here, already...
