Could be the fact it’s a Jeep, if it’s a soft top, then yes that plays a big factor.
Could be that he has the stealth box with a 10tw1 in it instead of the 13tw5. They make both.

Man I sure hope you don’t have to pull the steering column apart. I thought the unit was plug and play with sync 3. If that’s the case, the steering wheel control harness is already integrated into the sync harness. I assume just a software update is needed to make it work.

This is the wiring diagram for woofers with dual 2 ohm voice coils. This will give you a 2 ohm load. The voice coils of each individual speakers are wired in series. This gives each speaker an 4 ohm impedance. Wiring them in parallel will present the amp with a 2 ohm load.
Impedance is really about resistance. The amp will work with 1 ohm but heat will be its enemy because of the decreased impedance. Just don’t push it too hard or it will go into protect mode.
