Here are some numbers from the TRX side that are a useful hint for what Ford will do with the R.
The TRX comes in 3 trim levels, with price ranges shown depending on other options added:
- Base (about 70-75k)
- Level 1 (75k-85k)
- Level 2 (85k-95k)
To date, about 10,500 TRXs have been built...
1. Check out Adam's car care products, they are a vendor on this site. Not being able to use drive-through washes is a mild inconvenience, but you can still use self-serve bays if you don't own a home. Just keep a wash mitt and a towel in your truck.. it doesn't take that long and you won't...
I had a BakFlip on Raptor and now have RetraxPRO on TRX.
Both are quality, well-made covers that will keep water out and your stuff secure (or at least keep honest people honest).
BakFlip completely blocks rear window when all the way up, and can only open at fixed intervals.
RetraxPRO is...
I hope that's not why Ford is doing it, because Ram will almost certainly put a Redeye in the TRX and immediately trump the R in turn.
I said it on another thread and people probably thought I was joking, but if I were you, I'd get that 10k ADM in writing for the R and put down a deposit on it...
To date, that is literally the only dealer in the country that is taking orders below MSRP.. they are trying a high-volume strategy. I am unconvinced they will be able to deliver all of the orders they are taking via the forum.
Virtually every TRX sold off a dealer lot is ADM, though a good...
The description for both 800A and 801A just says "black" for leather, but makes no mention of accents. The 800A ones are clearly gray. I doubt this is a rendering issue.
Maybe there is a reason why no pictures of the 801A interior were ever released ahead of time, only the 37s blue.
If you are shopping at a dealership located in a high-net-worth area, it stands to reason that excessive markups will be the norm.
You need to be calling dealerships in rural or at least small suburban towns.
People on TRX forums were complaining about $30-40k markups in LA. Like.. no shit.
Got it. I understand, though I don't agree. No one should be guaranteed a shot at a luxury item, in my opinion. Bread and eggs, sure. Raptor R, no - let the demand drive the price.
Hard to begrudge dealers their markups in a time like this. Ford isn't giving them many vehicles to sell, period. They need to pay their employees and keep the lights on. If someone is willing to pay $20k over, they're stupid not to take it.
