Dealer fixed the last couple issues. Everything good now.
Interesting note: My truck no longer has the sloppy shift into 4th gear when cold. It has had this since birth, and it even persisted after a shift table reflash several months ago. But the reflash as part of this recall has apparently...
I assume because not only did OP provide proof, but he provided his log with manual calculations as well. It's relevant because:
1. The truck's computer is optimistic if you don't go into the system and calibrate it, and I suspect less than 1% of raptor owners do.
2. For some reason there is a...
I agree that was a bad diagnosis. I even told them "I feel like it's in the software" but that's what they did. At some point I can't tell them how to do their job. Thanks for passing on the info on the mirror reprogram. I'll give it to the service advisor.
Sideview mirror motor (their diagnosis) was replaced because I reported that sometimes upon startup the mirrors would randomly travel to the limits of their travel and then start "popping" against the mechanical stops. This action was uninitiated by me.
The tilting down in reverse is a function...
Good news: the cam phaser repair seems to have gone perfectly. No gremlins have cropped up in the couple hundred miles since.
Bad news: the misc other warranty repairs have some issues. Since they replaced the sideview mirror motor, the driver sideview mirror will now not hold its position. It...
My Raptor is a 2019 built in 8/19. Only mods are a JLT catch can and auto start-stop delete. I read about the cam phaser issue before I even bought a Raptor. I always hoped it was limited to an unlucky few, and that I would escape, but alas the cam phasers came for me.
At different points in...
After driving the vehicle for 12 months, the model year doesn't even matter anymore. It's all about the miles after that (when staying inside the same generation).
Everybody gets to spend their money the way they want. As for me and my $, I'd be happy to receive my new truck on Dec 31st rather...
This is where I'm at too. I don't hate gen 3s. They look like awesome trucks. I'm just not jumping on one this year. Next year, maybe. By the end of 2022--probably.
Fair question. For me, it's because every time I trade a vehicle I incur some monetary costs, some costs with my time, and it means my next vehicle trade will be at least 2 more years away. So if I traded my Gen 2 for a Gen 3 I wouldn't incur nearly as much monetary cost. Granted. But the time...
My gen 2 has the same thing. Dealership investigated. They couldn't find a root cause. Their best guess was phasers, but it wasn't the cam phaser rattle. It's a mild tick that goes on for the first 2-3ish minutes after startup. They finally said, "We've got to dig into the engine to troubleshoot...
Of course it's his truck and he can do whatever he wants. It's just a pretty wild ride that is very counter to how the tune/dealership interaction is usually perceived here. I'd say 90% of people are convinced that a dealer being aware of a tune immediately makes warranty work painful--and this...
This is the craziest **** I've ever read on this forum regarding tunes and warranty work. We all run around scared to death that a tune will void our warranty because the dealership will find out. But this guy lied to the dealer, then had to tell them the truth, then he took them his accessport...
Today is 2 weeks since I dropped mine off. However, I included lots of warranty items that they addressed before the phasers: condensation in marker lights, squeaky sunshade, mirrors popping, etc. After a week of fixing the other stuff, the service manager told me they had 4 trucks ahead of mine...
I say this pretty much equally ignorant on it: I have noticed that switching 2WD to 4WD entails a little bit of time for the drivetrain to lock up and engage the 4WD. However, the switch from 4WD back to 2WD seems almost instantaneous. So I *speculate* that it would be harmful to change into 4WD...
Mine is getting the phasers replaced right now, and the loaner they found for me is a '21 F150 XL basic work truck. Only two options it has are 4WD and V8. Been driving it for 1.5 weeks, and this thing will surprisingly move really well! It's probably also due to a pretty low vehicle weight and...
Hell, my Gen 2 has this. Dealership has never been able to find it. Sounds like an exhaust bracket or something, and it goes away after 5-6 minutes of warmup.
Mine is getting it done right now. I already had a rattle when I took mine in (25k miles). It's very brief, and lasts less than a second, but it's definitely the cam phaser rattle. I can imagine by 50k miles it sounds like a full-blown clothes dryer full of marbles.
This forum can be really helpful, especially for things like Forscan. There is an expectation that if we are to help, the OP should provide enough info for us to help. With Forscan this would mean "I made these changes [*** XX XXXX] to this address [***] and got the result that my turns are on...
I'm with ya. I'm glad they make plenty of colors so we can all get the exact one we want. But I also don't care for a performance vehicle in a dull color.
