A couple of graphics that help show what's going on if anyone is interested. The front, with different travel numbers of course, is the same, but with everything built into the top hat I think the rear is easier to visualize.
Hey thanks for sharing! I was just about to go post this up here but you beat me to it.
Here are a few pictures of how the truck sits. Front springs are fresh because I assembled new shocks to install. So expect the front light settle a tiny bit.
The way I see it when it comes to tire rub and...
They were replaced because of the shock clunk that some 22s have. When the one started leaking later only the one got replaced. It was one of the warranty replacements. Just get the one replaced. Less of a chance of more leaks.
I have a 22, but same difference. Had all of my shocks replaced under warranty a little more than a year ago. One of the shocks was leaking within 10 months. Unfortunately something that can happen. Go get it warrantied.
A handful of ford dealerships around me have awful service departments. For example, my tailgate rubbed on its own mounting bracket when it was brand new. I got told sorry that would take too long and it would have to go to a body shop. There’s one that’s pretty good. Not where I originally...
Jumping it in 4wd shouldn’t even be that big of a deal as long as you aren’t absolutely hooning the shit out of it. My wheels have left the ground in 4 and my diff is still in one price.
The solenoid is just moves a chunk of metal that is a needle valve more or less. If you replicate the valve then you could use the same solenoid. I’m pretty sure it’s just sending a PWM signal to the solenoids so it’s not like the solenoid has smarts preventing you from wiring in your own...
So unlike the rear diff, the front diff housing isn’t structural. We all know that right? So if an impact is the cause and you’re in 2wd, the only way you’d see damage to diff would require the skid plate to be bent up into it. Wheel speed suddenly changing due to to tires hooking up or finding...
You know it just occurred to me that they can’t legally obligate you to have a dealer install the tune for the warranty unless they don’t charge for install. That requirement plus having to pay for the install would violate the tie-in sales portion of Magnuson-Moss. They can certainly require an...
The big problem is the warranty is kind of a joke being dated from when the truck entered service and all. I’ve got a 22 with about 9 months left until I hit the cut off with the tune. 9 month of warranty isn’t worth a lot and neither are numbers it gets you.
Overall height of the 37 truck is listed at right around 1” taller than with 35s. The wheel radius is about 1” different. Pretty sure all differences in height come from the wheels being larger.
I would say the one potential benefit, depending on use, of aftermarket UCAs is when they are used in conjunction with a slot delete for the LCAs. That combination is much much harder to knock out of alignment. But yeah not like Toyotas where you can have a shock that requires an aftermarket UCA...
This is not a shock leak. If you clean it off a few times eventually it won’t come back. The cause is assembly lube used in the joint between the shock body and that top bit. Notice how it’s spreading more or less evenly in all directions. That’s because it’s a grease. Shock oil is much thinner...
It will sag when you put any weight in. How much sag matters is the question. I can tell you five wheels with tires is enough for it to sit noticeably lower and that’s not a ton of weight. I put a snowmobile that’s maybe 450ish pounds in the back and that’s fine but squatted about as much as I’d...
Sit there with the door open in an instance where you can hear the rattle and switch the exhaust mode from normal to sport. If the rattle stops it’s the exhaust valve. If not something else. Probably the exhaust valve though. I wish it would just default to sport.
That’s kind of what I was thinking but impossible to say from such a grainy picture. I would be very surprised if that shock architecture doesn’t make an appearance on the raptors eventually.
For what it’s worth, the picture on their truck shock homepage is a gen 3 that appears to have reservoirs up front. Maybe they just slapped the gen 2 shocks on a truck, but I’d imagine it’s actually something.
out of curiosity, any of you getting much oil weeping out of the connector on the driver’s side? Was looking in there to try and judge how much of a pain getting the hoses off would be and it’s surprisingly oily.
