They were talking about the sump and pickup design being redone for the off road application. The capacity was set by the GT500 development team and left unchanged.
I don’t think you’re appreciating what @FordTechOne is talking about regarding “engine size”. We’re not talking displacement here but physical size. The 5.2 predator is physically larger than the 7.3 Godzilla due to DOHC vs single cam pushrod design. Look at how small a typical LS is in relation...
Your McLaren uses a dry sump, the predator in both the R and 500 does not. That’s a significant difference in how the vehicle is able to handle high g forces in cornering. More oil is needed on a wet sump to maintain pressure vs a dry sump.
I’m not saying the higher capacity does not help in...
My GT350 takes 10-10.5 and the GT500 takes 11.5, same as the R. So it has nothing to do with angles really. They redesigned the oil pan and pickup compared to the 500 though to better handle high angle off roading versus the high cornering g’s the 500 sees.
I think it has more to do with more...
Can you get a pic straight on from the front/back to see how much they poke out?
Loving these wheels but 9 wide 0 offset is just at/beyond my preference too. Looks great though.
You guys disappoint me.
Haha, kidding. All valid points, I really loved my eco Raptors and am not someone that hates on the ttv6 at all. Really enjoy dd’ing my R though and prefer it personally. I drive pretty mellow 80-90% of the time and like how the R powerband is a bit more linear. The eco...
You think it rides nicer? I prefer the R even without the power, the little bit more weight up front makes it a bit more planted and solid in my opinion.
Yea I really wish we could get a ecu/tcm tune on these.
I don’t disagree with you because I’ve seen that fix it for several people but I think it may be a multi factorial problem. I’ve also seen people solve the issue by increasing the prime cycle on the pumps through forscan.
Yea that’s a lot, I don’t drive nearly that much. What’s your average per month?
Coming from the 3.5 though, it’s not like you’re filling up twice as much. It’s a hit to range but if you’d be filling up the R way to frequently I’d say you’d be filling up a 3.5 at an annoying frequency under...
